I have an IOGEAR bluetooth dongle and am using those drivers that came with it (MarkVenture was wondering). Also, Lets456, I just edited the seem for Vibe then Ring and it works fine.

I just got my new V3C on Mon (.03 firmware). Just upgraded to 0.4 a few minutes ago.
I lost my custom WAP settings -- my new entry pointing to my proxy is gone (no biggy, I'll just add it back in).
But I did not lose wallpapers I put on the phone (just had to re-select the wallpaper image). I hadn't loaded new ringtones, but given my images stuck around, I bet ringtones will also stick (but you may or may not have to re-assign them).
My contacts were not altered.
Bluetooth was powered off, but when I powered it on it remembered my pairing with my headset - turned on the headset and it worked first time. Didn't have to re-pair.
In general it looks like lots of settings are "re-set", i.e. my camera settings (resolution etc.) are back to "out of the box" defaults.
Two observations: 1) the whole UI is faster. E.g., I normally hit the voice-command button, then bring the phone up to my ear, hear a few noises, then "Say a command". Just now I did the same, and by the time I brought the phone up, I heard "...mand". Just the last part of the message. So for example, voice-command key now gives an almost instant response.
2) Also, the orange on the outside is very muted, it doesn't stand out or look... horrible. I have a "busy" wallpaper, which actually made the time a little hard to read on the outer display. So yes, its orange, but it isn't ORANGE. And of course we'll figure out how to hack to to an image or different color anyway...
Bottom line, unless you have to stay at .02 for OBEX, it is probably worth the upgrade to .04. It took about 15 minutes to upgrade at a vzw store (I needed to get a coffee anyway, didn't want to wait for the "leaked" version to be posted).

Thank you, Hotrsx.

Did you happen to try to seem edit the phone yet for 2742/offset 6a/bit0? If its not set =1 or the box is "unchecked" can you check the box, save it, restart the phone and see if its still no obex?
Thanks!!

Verizon may be allowing us to transfer stuff to our phones now - my friend went to the store last week and had his VX8100 replaced. The person there told him that he could either d/l songs for a dollar a piece from VCAST or buy a 20 dollar software package with cable from them and load as many songs as he wanted from his computer. Maybe Verizon is starting to smarten up a little?Originally Posted by d0ughboy
Ok, i edited 2742/offset 6a/bit0. It was there and unchecked. I checked it off and saved it. Restarted the phone and still no OBEX....If i was able to edit that Bit should OBEX work now or does this just mean .04 is just like .03 and we're not going to have OBEX?Originally Posted by Mark_Venture
Ronopolis,
Can you check to see if you can change the home keys more in this version? I want the ability to change what each of my soft keys and directionals do.
In the Alltel I can make any softkey nearly any menu or function.
hi, apologies if this has been asked before, but which firmware version fixes the issue with the front display staying lit up while plugged into the charger? i'm still on my original first firmware.
haven't checked seems out yet, I guess people are already working on hacking the orange external screenOriginally Posted by jpc168
that is what we were unsure of... An "unconfirmed rumor" had it that verizon was putting OBEX back in the "next software release" but apparently that was just a rumor... not fact..Originally Posted by nick620y
Based on what you've done, It appears .04's bluetooth is the same as .03's...
Perhaps the easiest way to confirm OBEX functionality for .04 is to have someone who owns a Mac do it? The setup with iSync was pretty straightforward and from what I've been reading, there shouldn't be any configuration changes...
I would try myself, but I'm not confident with my ability to reflash the phone back to .02. Having OBEX capability was the reason why I got this phone in the first place (while staying on the best network), so I don't really want to risk losing it.

After the update, my MPT only shows Sync, Phonebook, Text Message and Internet Connection .. I lost my Calendar and the other functionsCan anyone tell me how to get it back?
*Fireproof*
I found the same thing after I updated to 01.15.04P this morning. After playing around wiht MPT for awhile, I changed the phone back to V3C from V3CM and everything seems to be working fine now in MPT.Originally Posted by JohnnyBlaze
I did not lose any of my images or ringtones that I had previously transferred to the phone prior to the upgrade. I also can still connect to the PC with bluetooth and transfer pictures and mp3's that way as well, so as far as I am concerned I lost nothing by upgrading and have faster menu speed. I have never tried any seem editing because I don't have the necessary programs so I can't tell if anything was affected there or not.
I know, I've read those posts, and two threads here... (along with a couple threads on CDMAFORUMS.COM)Originally Posted by WaltA
I mean no disrespect, but unless I missed it, there was just 1 post by 1 person who said brenda said... Not that I doubt wnrussell, but you know, with all the missleading or unclear or "gray" info from verizon in other areas (like tethering/dun)... its difficult to take anything "verizon says" as 100% confirmed until its in our hands..
Maybe I should I have left off the "unconfirmed" and just said... "rumor has it" or say "someone said that..."?? I consider it rumor because we have just a single post by some one.. we have no "offical" verizon statement, nothing on their web site, the "whats new" list doesn't mention it, etc...
So right now, all I can just go by what I read... "someone said, that someone at verizon said.." BT OBEX being turned back on in .04... Now, what I read as posted so far by those who have updated to .04 is... OBEX File Transfers are apparently still missing.
That is two conflicting things.
Until we see a bunch of people posting "Yeah! I got .04 and OBEX File Transfers are there again because now I can go thru Widcomm's My Bluetooth Places to transfer files..." I'm going to have think that OBEX is still gone, and hope that maybe Brenda was right about it coming back, just got the version number wrong? Maybe it will be back for .05?
