No problem - I assumed it was that.
You get an email, check the thread, and respond to the last post on the page assuming it is the last post in the thread (because you don't notice that there is another page).
    ... happens all the time.

Alright. I have flashed my phone from the Altell .04 flash to the new .04p. I have loved it. I think the .04p firmware is great, and I am enjoying my phone.

However, I noticed two things that were vastly different from any other flash I have had on my phone. Firstly, I cannot connect to GIN. That is annoying. I would really like to be able to do that. Does anyone know why I can't? Second, this is a good thing actually, when I use the video recorder on the phone, instead of the lame 5 second video, I can actually take a 15 second clip.

But other than those two things, I havn't found anything that differnt from the original firmware that I got the phone with. If anyone knows why I can't use GIN, please let me know. Do I have to the seem edit that is posted for the Altell Flash?

    Thanks!
    Crypto

PS. Thank you all for your amazing help getting me this far!

Going from the Alltel back to a VZW flash you may have to do a reset or maybe just a *228 option 1 to get GIN reset.

I just tried both those things, and neither of them re-enabled GIN...is there just something wrong with my phone?

Copying ringtones and images to and from v3c

This is my 1st time posting anything so I appologize if this has already been answered. I have spent 2 hours reading through these pages and did not find the answer.

I need someones help. I was able to do the seem edit and activate the vibrate ring function. I can access my contacts trough MPT. What I cannot do is copy ringtones or images to or from the phone. I thought that the seem edit was supposed to enable that. Anyone have any ideas??? Verizon is very frustrating fro making all of us go through this.

Apparently there are two editions, or variations, of .04. One with OBEX that is meant for phones with .02 originally, and one without OBEX that is meant for phones with .03 originally. However, the two editions are really interchangeable in terms of phone hardware. It just appears that VZW doesn't want to give OBEX to anyone who didn't already have it, and didn't want to take OBEX away from those who did.
Sorry if this has been answered but before I try to flash my phone to .04p I'd ask. What I'm gleaning from your post is that if I go to a Verizon store with my RAZR that has .02 and OBEX enabled, then Verizon will give me .04 that keeps OBEX enabled?

Any news on the squeeshed wallpaper on the front LCD yet - haven't seen any threads about possible fixes. My wife loves the speedier menu, but hates that the pix of our daughter on the fron is so distorted

O.K., seriously, this is not that complicated. Unless you got a version of the V3c we have not seen yet, the following should work fine for you:

    1. Undo everything you've done.

    2. Download and install the driver located here: http://www.bvrp.com/Customers/Motorola/DriverTool.zip.

    3. Plug your phone into the computer using a standard USB cable and let the plug-and-play thing do its thing. Tell it to automatically find it and it will find it and call it Motorola USB Modem or some such thing.

    4. When it's done doing that, unplug your phone from the computer.

    5. Install MPT and update to 4.04 (NOTE: During one of these install levels, I forget which one, the computer will hang for what seems like an eternity; don't interrupt it, it didn't get stuck, I guess is "supposed" to do that).

    6. Plug your phone back into the computer using the simple USB cable.

    7. Start MPT clicking OK all the way throught profile and the setup stuff.

    8. When the image of the phone pops up, everything should work except multimedia studio. To enable EVERYTHING (incl. multimedia studio), follow Mark's instructions which are, again, Menu-->Setup-->General Setup-->Communication Tab-->Change Modem-->Next-->Next-->Check the box marked "Do Not Automatically detect the driver. Select from a list"-->Next-->Highlight Motorola CDMA on the left-->Highlight V3CM on the right-->Next-->Finish.

    9. Voila! Everything should work. To sync contacts you can either use the syncro option or the phonebook method (I prefer the phonebook method because it gives you more control and allows you to sync TO the phone only; that way your phone isn't busy screwing with your Outlook contacts list, which, if it's like mine, is 1000+ long -- this can be a serious pain to fix, so I don't let anything or anyone touch it except my secretary, my pda, or myself -- certainly not my phone); to connect to the network, click the "Connect to the Internet" button (NOTE: If you're in an EVDO network, you may want to disable EVDO first -- read elsewhere on this board for how to do that; if you're on a 1x network you should be in business at ~140Kbps and it only eats regular minutes); the multimedia studio is pretty self-explanatory; the calendar sync may still have a bug, it may not, I don't know because I don't use it (it is, after all, a phone, not a PDA), but I would check around here to find out before I tried to sync the calendar as my understanding is that if it still has that bug, it could screw up your phone pretty seriously; text messaging and email are pretty self-explanatory as well.
Try that, and read the Oy! V3c and MPT Issues thread

    TXT/PIX Msgs

I'm still using the 02 firmware. Before I upgrade to 04, can anyone tell me if I will lose my txt/pix messages if I flash my phone.

    Thanks

He means the actual messages, not the features.
... and I don't know the answer to that question.
