Motorola V3C – New Software 01.15.04P

Hi everyone, I need some help. I just picked up a V3C with GATW_01.15.04. Using MPT, I can transfer contact info back and forth between the phone via USB and back- up the phone contact info on the PC but when I try to transfer a ring tone from the PC to the phone, MPT hangs and then tells me that the phone is not connected. I have the setting set to V3CM and obviously have accessed MMS. I do believe I have the utilities many have mentioned in the threads. Can someone walk me through what I need to do to be able to transfer files back & forth between the phone & PC via USB?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Jim, you have to do the MPT seem edit. Seem 2742, bytes 00000, check off bit 0.

Hi Jpac,

I am green when it comes to phones. How do I do the seem edit? What program do I use to do this? I have a disk that was given to me with the utilities that have been mentioned in the forums. I'm also very familiar with ML programming and the use of a HEX editor but I'm new to the phones. Thanks for your help.

Easiest way is flash to .02 to .04 get the files from Ry Ry's site, then you'll have OBEX and you can transfer files,photos,ringtones,etc via BT (not usb) without the use of MPT. It's easy and took me a total of about 1/2 an hour to do. I prefer OBEX over MPT anyday....I can use it on any computer that has BT...Or I simply have my software on my flash drive and bring my BT dongle with me.

Getting the programs(for flashing) is the most time consuming part, but it's well worth it.

The only thing I use MPT is for phonebook and calander syncing...I do that via BT anyway.

I booted this program and plugged my phone in. Now, do I type in 2742 in the Seem box? There is a "1" in the record box. Does this need to be changed to something else? Then, do I click on load from phone and I'll see the data in the terminal screen and then I check off bit 0 at byte 00000 and then click on save back to phone?

As for flashing the phone, I may do that later but right now bluetooth file transfer is not needed. I just want to be able to move ring tones in and pics out of my phone. Since I am new at this I want to take some baby steps first.

Go to the Seem Edit page - the seem edit for MPT's multimedia studio file transfers is seem 2742 offset 6A bit 0. But that info can be found on Mark's pages too.
And you must use the correct version of p2kseem - get it from Mark's pages.

Good advice. Go to Mark's page...It's well designed and gives step by step instructions regarding seem editing. You need PST running in the background, BVRP driver tools, etc. Go to his page, you will not be disappointed.

I have a cricket V3C and the version is GATW_09.01.00R can anyone tell me if theres anything newer than this? Are firmware revisions the same across carrier's? except for any branding in them obviously.

No, the firmwares are different between carriers.
No one has posted a Cricket firmware version before, so we don't know if 9.01.00R is the latest or what.
