Not impressed with the changes...I'm happy with my .03 firmware and usb cable connection (with seem edits).

Just got the new 04 firmware. I havent' really hacked the phone at all so I don't know about OBEX, MPT, etc. From what I can see the GUI is definitely faster - up to par with other phones I would say. The only other thing is the outside LCD is now orange instead of displaying the inside LCD picture with the phone shut.

Please confirm MPT MMS capability with the 04 firmware as soon as you can. That's the most critical for me, as I'm not about to start paying for ringtones and images I already have that I want to put back on the phone.

Version 2 has OBEX. Version 3 did not disable OBEX, it removed it from the phone completely.

If the new 04 firmware is like the original 02 firmware, no hacking is needed for Bluetooth's OBEX profile to be operational.

With the 02 firmware, one can move files between the phone and a PC, with the phone "as is" from Verizon. With the 03 firmware you can't, and there is no hack to ever make it work. The question is then, can you move files using Bluetooth with the 04 firmware?

Previous reports posted here have stated that the new 04 firmware will be like the original 02 firmware; OBEX will be there and enabled. I guess we are all very anxious to find out if that is really true or not.

I thought the problem was more than just a display oddity. That the data connection continues to be actually active after ending an application, and the data minute usage counter/meter in VZW's billing dept keeps running.

Here here! I have the same request, if someone has already leaped to the new firmware, can they confirm MPT MMS still functions (with seem edit or whatever).

Sorry, I can't confirm MPT, etc. capability because I don't have the software yet. I do have awesome new though - I just got the phone to bond with my laptop over bluetooth!! I don't know if this means I can transfer files or what not but I figured i would let you all know. I just got this phone yesterday so I haven't played with it all that much.

If I call Verizon to order this phone, can I ask the sales rep to verify the firmware version of the phone? If no, I can just go to the store and look on the box, right? Is the firmware version listed somewhere on the box?

Sorry, i may have jumped the gun. I finally got the correct drivers for my computer for the BT dongle and stuff and i paired the phone and the computer. There are two profiles: Dial Up network Gateway and Handsfree Voice Gateway. So i guess no OBEX...? Hope that helps.
