Although I make no guarantees, I would bet many will be the same. I don't think they had to re-vamp the entire thing...just made a few changes here and there, hence most will probably be the same.

The change I'm curious about though is the outside screen? Why change it I wonder (especially to such a tacky looking color)? Does this mean that the outside LCD is now independent of the inside LCD (i.e. does that mean we can change the outside LCD to something OTHER than what is posted on the inside LCD?)

im assuming its something to do with the programming for brew that gives you the outside gif. its probably masking what mot. is trying to do yet again. but who knows I haven't tested it.

Just called and spoke with a Tech at VZ in Apple Valley, MN and the software is available in case anyone who lives around here is wondering. He said it fixes the BT with the headset and a few other things. I asked about the external display but he wasn't sure as to he hasn't updated a razr himself yet.

My biggest gripe is if we can not change the external display, that orange is not to appealing IMO.

I wonder if it fixes the ANNOYING low battery beep that sounds no matter what setting (silent or vibe) the phone's sounds settings.

All motorola's have had the low battery beep for as long as I can remember. That will never change.

The only other thing is the outside LCD is now orange instead of displaying the inside LCD picture with the phone shut.
I wonder why the heck it's orange? Do you think that is by design?

    RAZR V3c .04 Firmware INFORMATION! + Pics!

I took the plunge and upgraded from .02 to .04 today, it took about 5 minutes for them to flash the phone, my contacts, pictures, everything EVEN THE CHANGED EXTERIOR GRAPHIC stayed the same!

It seems like this firmware is less of a razr fixes only firmware and more of a new verizon UI firmware, for example the menus now have a lot more color in them as you can see from the picture below

here is a list of the offical changes

    • Device continues to display a data connection after ending the application
    • Improved menu response and speed
    • M-F Alarm Clock set and will alert on Saturday
    • Ability to view all inbox messages via right/left navigation button after opening a
    message
    • Ability to remove missed call icon by pressing the “SEND” key to view all calls

    External LCD Screen Changes

the first change I saw was instead of the back LCD screen displaying your background picture it displays this orange background, which for me isn't bad since you could never actually see your background anyway, I don't mind it

the next change I saw was when you press the upper left button on the outside screen it lists master volume, alarm only, vibrate only, all off instead of the previous choices, also a PERSONAL FAVORITE of mine, I would always hit the bottom on accident just holding the phone, when that happened that "volume menu" would stay on until I pressed the upper button again, now when you hit the upper botton it will display the volume menu for 5 seconds then it will automatically go to the default external screen (with the time etc) for another 5 seconds then turn off, this is a great thing because I hate taking my phone out of my pocket and seeing that volume menu thing

going back to what I just said, now the screen turns off in 5 seconds vs 15ish I think on the .02 wether that be you open your phone and close it or you press a button to turn on the external screen, this saves battery life!!

    Arrow Buttoin Changes

now when you press up it shows a new mobile web graphic

(the menu was transitioning from connecting to receiving, it was hard to get this stuff focused but you should get an idea of what the new graphic looks like now)

when you press down it goes to "bluetooth link" instead of my pictures (I am not very fond of this as I just got use to viewing my pics by pressing down

when you press right it goes to the get it now menu

when you press left it goes to get pix and flix menu

    Menu Changes

the lag has almost completely disappeared, I used a stopwatch and by pressing the center (menu button) it opens in .52 seconds which even seems longer than it is in real life it closes just as fast, even by pressing the message button or contacts it opens in just half a second, the picture button opens in 1.62 seconds (normal if not faster than any camera phone) and scrolling through your listed pictures is a breeze, even loading individual pictures is slightly faster

every menu has more color too it as well, it makes the ugly red UI look much much better IMO

    OBEX and MPT Changes

Sadly I do not have a computer with bluetooth at my disposal so I cannot check to see if OBEX was reenabled after .03 (the rumor mill says that it WAS reenabled) however I am very optimistic that it is INFACT reenabled since I was able to connect to motorola phone tools 4.04 without ANY seem edits, I was able to access EVERYTHING

Overall I am an extremely happy camper, and for you that don't use OBEX only MPT I would HIGHLY recommend getting it, but there is still hope for OBEX users, seeing that .03 needed a seem hack to enable you to run MPT through the miniusb jack and the .04 has it enabled so you don't need to!

Anyone else? So tempted to bring it in for the update. My software is extremely faulty. Phone freezes, white screen, crazy lag. Got my phone since January haven't swapped for one yet despite all these problems....

I won't update unless I know the new software has the bluetooth file transfer feature.

    Unhappy

I too upgraded my firmware at VerizonWireless today.

I agree with all of the above, however, I have lost my OBEX Bluetooth File transfer capiblities. OBEX worked on my .02 and .03 firmware but I think it is disabled on the .04, unless I am doing something wrong. However, I was able to transfer photos with the older firmware

With MPTs 4.0.4, I had similar problems. I used to use the V3cm settings and was able to file transfer with the older firmware. With .04 the file transfer application would lock up and lose communications with the phone, either using the V3c or the V3cm settings. This too I am hoping that I am making a mistake, but it did work before I upgraded the firmware.

Intrested to here other peoples experiences?

    FW GATW_01.15.04

If this helps or makes a difference.

I went and doubled checked to make sure I could get pictures off and put onto my computer and vice versa, everything works, connection doesn't drop

    I too have GATW_01.15.04

So you can access the entire multimedia studio in MPT with .04 firmware just like the .02?

I seriously doubt you had OBEX working in Verizon's V3C.

How did you transfer files? Using MPT? or only the bluetooth drivers/software for your dongle (i.e. "My Bluetooth Places" or Whatever it is that Bluesoliel uses)??

If MPT.. that is NOT obex. MPT uses AT Commands, not OBEX.

Its possible that MPT's file transfers need the seem edits re-done to re-enable them...

Fire up pst/p2kseem, read the 2742 seem from your phone, and check offset 6A, bit0... is the box "checked"?
