Motorola V3C – New Software 01.15.04P

My mom just received her Pink Razr in the mail today. It has firmware .03 so it seems like their phones haven't been updated yet. It shipped out of the warehouse on Monday I believe, so as of Monday they apparently haven't updated the firmware on their phones.

I know, I've read those posts, and two threads here... (along with a couple threads on CDMAFORUMS.COM)

I mean no disrespect, but unless I missed it, there was just 1 post by 1 person who said brenda said... Not that I doubt wnrussell, but you know, with all the missleading or unclear or "gray" info from verizon in other areas (like tethering/dun)... its difficult to take anything "verizon says" as 100% confirmed until its in our hands..

Thanks, Mark. I apologize for posting a "Verizon says..." quote, as much as they have lied before about the capabilities of their handsets before on DUN and OBEX, the .02 having OBEX and then the Nokia 6256i too.

The quote I was basing it on was tied into the issue of what was Verizon going to do to make it easy for users to to get music off the phone, but it looks like they are going back to expansion cards on the Motorolas and still have this stupid fear of Bluetooth file transfer.

Can anyone confirm any BT headphone fixes? I have the Alltel flash, but if the VZW .04 flash fixes all my BT headphone issues ill be more then glad to use it till Alltel fixes the issues.

Can anyone confirm anything about the bluetooth headset disconnect issue?

the update isnt in houston yet. if you are from houston the gessner store doesnt have it and i call the rest in the westheimer area and no one has it. they said the houston computers froze when they were supposed to recieve it. so they told me that it should be in by the end of the week if not sooner.

how do you check what version firmware you are using. I just got mine like 3 days ago, so im guessing its 0.3, but is there a way to check?

Also, if i have 0.3 and i want to get obex, im guessing you'll have to flash it to 0.2 and then upgrade it to 0.4

menu > tools and settings > system > device info > other information > S/W version

or look on ur box for the big sticker and look at the S/W number

I bought my phone new at level 03 and updated today to 04. No OBEX. I also lost MPT/MMS File transfer. I had to re edit seem 2742/6A/bit 0 to on, which was apparently lost in the update. It works now. I need to use V3cm as the modem. The calendar seems to work ok. I tried to sync several items from Outlook to phone and phone to outlook and the times came across ok.

There was all this talk earlier that the calendar sync feature was really messed up, which is why it was disabled. And (the rumor went) if you used calendar sync enough you could totally screw up your phone. Put it in a permanent bad state. Does this ring any bells with anyone?

Do we (I'm not sure who we is) think the calendar sync is OK to use now? I'd sure love to use this feature.

Ive gone to and called about 6 verizon stores in the San Diego area and got 6 different answers from all of them (however they all agreed that they couldnt update my phone yet). I was wondering if anyone had a version of this firmware update online (maybe it has leaked) and if it was possible to upgrade my phone myself.

hey whats up? Im from San Diego also. I went to the Santee VZW store and was told that they dont do the flashing for the Razr, but they said that the store in El Cajon does. Walk into the store in el cajon right off the 67 highway right accross the street from boomers and the DMV. The VZW store is right behind the In-N-Out. I flashed it today and it works fine...

Anyone know how to get MPT working on V.4? cause I cant seem to get it to recognize the phone.

the next change I saw was when you press the upper left button on the outside screen it lists master volume, alarm only, vibrate only, all off instead of the previous choices, also a PERSONAL FAVORITE of mine, I would always hit the bottom on accident just holding the phone, when that happened that "volume menu" would stay on until I pressed the upper button again, now when you hit the upper botton it will display the volume menu for 5 seconds then it will automatically go to the default external screen (with the time etc) for another 5 seconds then turn off, this is a great thing because I hate taking my phone out of my pocket and seeing that volume menu thing

I'm a little confused about what they changed as far as the outside buttons. Does it fix the problem where some of us inadvertantly press the side buttons and turn off the ringer? There's a 3-page thread about the problem here:

Yes that answers my question and makes me NOT want to change back to VZW's UI. Why do they feel that customer choice is bad? I can't stand that they mess with the base UI so much.

Wait...My .03 to .04 does not give me the option to turn bt/obex on...only (bit 0 offset 6a) has the option off. Did you flash to .02 or something? Did you reset the phone?

Yes, BVRP/Avanquest posted this many times in their support forum for MPT... http://www.bvrpforums.com/motorola/

They kept blaming it on a Verizon firmware issue... saying its verizon's problem.

When questioned in their forum... BVRP's support members just say "its verizon's issue" to contact them or motorola...

And you made sure that your computer does NOT have the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator listed in device manager? You are sure its using the Widcomm or Bluesoliel drivers? and you tried the Widcomm's "My Bluetooth Places" or the program Bluesoliel uses, right?

Yes. Usually seem edits must be re-done after flashing or upgrading the firmware.

I think SOME calendar synch was ok... But BVRP changed their forums AFTER posting the detailed info on the bug, and now all they say is it is a "bug in verizon's firmware" and do not elaborate.. so use with caution...

wait...I went to 2742/6a and bit "0" had option only for "obex off"...so I looked to the right and saw a "." highlighted and changed that to a "7" and BINGO now it gives me the option to turn OBEX on !!!!
