I did the flash with the firmware from the posted link ...

I have one strange problem though. After the flash was successful, I re-entered my security code, unlock code, etc. However, it somehow resets the unlock code by itself randomly.

Its not the initial reset that happens after the flash but occurs later on (it was the next day in my case). This means I had to change my unlock code twice.

    Anyone have had this problem?

I know that doing a *228 to update your PRL, will also reset your unlock code back to the last four digits of your phone number. Is that what is happening??

You probably forgot to uncheck "Master Reset" option. Same thing happened to me when I flashed to 04. The password was reset to 1234 or 12345 - don't remember which one exactly; the security and/or lock codes have different lengths.

    Hope this helps.

For flashing instructions, go to Mark's "How To" page - then follow his advise and the links he provided. www.v710.org/mark or http://mark.cdmaforums.com

For the 1.15.04P firmware, go to www.humpa.com/vzw

hey guys thanks for the replies. As a matter of fact, yes, the *228 call seems to be the cause. This is strange as I've never had the problem before, or atleast I didn't notice.

I think you just never noticed it before. Even my SonyEricsson gets its PIN reset back when I do a *228 PRL update.

*228 Option 2 does NOT reset the lock code, however, *228 Option 1 WILL reset it.

I am not doubting you, but I just tried it again on my V3c. *228 only changed the lock code when I selected option 1.

*228 Option 2 should only download the latest PRL.

I guess it may be different for other phones or areas.

Don't know about the lock code... but I can say on the E815 *228 opt 2 does more than just bring down the latest PRL... It also re-writes the NVM_Factory file and resets some of the settings on the ServOPT screen in test mode (re-enables EVDO)...
