...So I've been looking through the forum yet I've not found any thread, post, or whatever that explains or even speaks of making mp3's into ringtones. Before buying it I was told this was possible.
And yes, I know that they need to be saved to the phone and not the card...but they still don't show up. HELP!
*quick sidebar: would formatting the card erase my phone number and make my phone useless?
**I am a Mac user btw

well, I'm not using MPT. Plus, I don't even know what that is.
So, absolutely you cannot convert mp3's to ringtones if you have a Mac?? But I can upload songs and play them back without any trouble...
MPT=Mobile Phone Tools. This is a 3rd party application that syncs Motorola phones. Personally I think it is a crappy app and you have to BUY it but if you want to backup/restore or transfer stuff you need it. However, I would imagine you could transfer the MP3 file to your card via a card reader and then copy it to the phone memory...I haven't done that but don't see why it won't work. Perhaps your MP3 files aren't in the right format? If you're using a Mac I think they put in a bunch of header crap that the phone can't read...at least that was the case with itunes files that I tried to put on my Nokia.
the easiest way is to just use bluetooth (I assume you have bluetooth if you have a current mac) and transfer your mp3 to your phone. Once it transfers it will ask you what to do with it and you can choose to set as ringtone. I have done this a ton with my macs and it works perfectly.
EDIT: so what I am saying is you don't have to convert anything, as long as it's an mp3 (and not some other music format like AAC, etc).
ditto what the last 2 posters said.
And my Slvr came w/ MPT include.
that bluetooth solution was bleedin genius!!it's a bit slower but it works.
...But I can't believe that you have to do it that way in order to make it work. Phone companies suck ***!!
that works great, but how do you get it into your itunes w/o the usb cable?
how come i cant put my mp3s saved on my memory card as a ringtone?
