    Angry Verizon XV6700 Phonebook problem

    ok heres the deal...I had all my contacts transferred over at the Verizon store from my old Motorola V710. I was part of that class action settlement over the Bluetooth on the V710 so decided to get this jawn. Heres the issue - I mailed back my V710 to Verizon already, and of course started fiddling with this thing. I did the trick to skip the Verizon batch from running for Verizon customizations, however it would've been nice if somebody mentioned in that forum that IT WIPES ALL YOUR CONTACTS AND PICTURES...really not cool.

    So the only backup I really have of my numbers was in Motorola Phone tools when I was sync-ing the phone book and saving it on the hd. Motorola Phone tools doesnt seem to like to run without having your phone connected to it, and for some reason I don't think its gonna be too friendly with my Audiovox 6700.

    Heres the question(s):
    1) Is there some way to get my phone book from MPT since I did sync it?
    2) Is there a way to get MPT to run without having my phone anymore?
    3) Is there a way to import that phonebook from MPT to my 6700?

    This phone is useless without my numbers so I'd appreciate any help somebody can give me. Thx

    I did also back up my phone book as an excel Comma delimited file if that helps...

    If you have an excel backup you should be able to import it into outlook pretty easily. I don't have my 6700 yet but outlook should be very similar to what I have on my PC. File, Import/Export - then follow the prompts - should work?

    it took me a while to do this but i went into outlook then file> import > import from another program or file ( it may ask you to install a translator when you hit next) select the file. if this doens't work right away open the csv in excel and save it as a XLS file. i believe after that you have to pick which fields you want it to import and which you want to discard. be careful in that area because i almost lost a lot of numbers in there but eventually i got it all working correctly

    I take it theres no way to sync it up wirelessly without the dock - its just annoying especially cause 1) my company won't do wireless (data too sensitive) 2) I alredy have my Blackberry synced up with Outlook (unfortunately BES doesn't like anything BUT blackberry)

    Do you have outlook web access? I can use both BES/Blackberry and 6700 sync'd with exchange.

    Is There Any Way To Reverse The Contacts In The Phonebook To Where The First Name Shows Up First And The Last Name Shows Up Last. Instead Of The Othe Way Around Like It Is In My Xv 6700?

    I have a 6700 there is no way to make it first name first and last name last. On the device its just set up to be like that unless you can some how edit it through registry. But I haven't seen it yet.

    I think the best way to back up your contacts is through wireless sync since you don't need 3rd party program like outlook. It doesn't work on outlookexpress.

    In my experience I totally forgot about hard reboot wiping out your hole contact list and pictures. So i saved the pictures on my sd card and my contact list was saved through wireless sync. If you have the 6700 its free. And you don't need outlook
