So it's safe to assume you can use the silver 750 middle plate on the 810 guts? How hard was it to transfer the board over to the 750 plate? I have seen some complete housings in silver color for the 810 on ebay. I emailed the guy to see if he would just sell me the keypad. If anyone else is interested let me know and I'll get the info for ya. I want my phone to have black front, silver middle, black 750 backplate with orange mirror. I think this is the best color combo just like agraham has. Get back to me soon agraham if you can I cant wait to get my 810 tuesday and I will be ordering the parts from cnn.cn and from that guy on ebay.

the middle housings should be the same. they appear to be interchangeable with an exception of a tab or two.

I used this guide for disassembling a K750i:
    http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=1195
It's pretty much the same as the W810i.
It's not difficult. If you've ever added ram to a laptop you've done half the job. The toughest part for me was just getting the front plate off without forcing anything.
The whole job took me at least a couple of hours I think, but I was very gentle and meticulous.
Oh, and the guide doesn't mention how to get the mem stick cover off. It has a sort of arrowhead that sticks through a slot in the middleplate. Compress it from one side with a flat screwdriver and you can pull it out.
Since you'll be using the back and middle from the K750i, you won't have to mod the middleplate to make it fit the back, however the front plate matches the 750 middle only 99%. You will have to make a little notch in the middle plate at the top near the power button to accomodate a tiny flange on the 810 front. It's no problem. In fact, I couldn't find my exacto, so I did it with a steak knife and it was still dead simple, and as long as you dont let the knife mar the ******d facing edge you can butcher the inside edge and noone will ever see it.
One potential drawback of the 750 middleplate is that it doesn't have the walkman logo on it. Someone on this board has a hybrid with a silver middleplate that does have the logo, but I'm not sure which phone it came from.

Yeah, I'd just got the phone, and I had visions of tearing up hundred dollar bills everytime I heard little crack.

@agraham - a phantom or razor back are much, much better for fending off would be
    810 thieves, especially at .68 cal :-)

I'm going to be ordering the k750 backing for my soon to be purchased w810i. I want to change the mirror from the silver on the k750 to the orange. How easy is it to pop out the mirror? And to make it stick, crazy glue should be used?

The orange one is a "button", the orange is glued/stuck to a white piece of plastic.
I think you would have to figure out how to get that off first. Personally, I left the silver
on, since 99% of the time it's covered up with the 750i lens cover...but to each his
own. Enjoy your w810i with the 750i back cover. I haven't heard anyone that has
the w810i that does not like it, me included

I bought one so I could still have the original back in stock form when (if ever)
    I sell my beloved 810i.
Also got a white oem housing so we'll see what sort of mix and match I can come
    up with :-)

Does anyone know if you can fit a front w810i crystal (hard plastic) case with a back k790 piece? I'd like to do this mod, but want to use a crystal case for protection.

Any feedback would be appreciated... it looks like to would work with certain cases... some cases look different than others....

No. This was mentioned in one of the threads. even if you took the crystal case of the w810i and k750 and mix and matched (front plastic of w810i and back plastic of k750), it wouldnt fit as the joints that connect to each other are different (in location I think).

Why has no one ever responded to questions posted here on whether or not the k750 "OEM" housings sold on ebay by china_store are really OEM or not?! It's been asked multiple times and some said they ordered and would compare but no word.
    Thanks.
