Ran live update to MPT 4.2.1a & the transfer problem is gone. Either they fixed it or the reinstall fixed a corrupted file. Anyway, my problem is gone!!!

Sorry about posting here, but I got no help from the PC software forum.
This is what is happening:
I open Mobile Phone Tools 4.04 & My V3 connects OK.
Select Melody Studio.
Under My Melodies tab I go to Program Files, MPT, Rings.
I then hi-lite ding.wav
It opens the file & I can play it OK
I then click "Transfer To Phone" & the message says "ding.mp3 file has been successfully transferred to you phone."
When I select it as a ringtone, under personalize on the V3, I hear no sound.
If I go to MultiMedia on the phone & play the ding.mp3 I get the message "ding.mp3 corrupt - Delete?"
Now, if I drag the ding.mp3 from My Phone Tab to my desktop it plays fine! BTW the file is less than a second.
The MP3 ringtones in MPT transfer & work fine. Is this a problem with the "Transfer to Phone" codec not creating a V3 useable MP3 from a wav?
What am I doing wrong?
I have not yet created my own mp3s form ding.wav, as the app. I use doesn't seem to work with, what it calls, a non-standard wav file.

You probably don't want to use the Melody Studio to transfer ringtones anyway. Use the File Transfer Studio instead. Melody Studio will recompress your MP3s to 32k, which is fine if that's the level of quality you want...
OK, but in this case the files were wavs & I was using Melody Studio to convert them to mp3s. That's what wasn't working before the upgrade. Does the File Transfer Studio do a conversion from wav to mp3?Originally Posted by hytran
Nope, but there are free and shareware tools out there that give you much more control over your MP3s than MPT. A good rule of thumb is that a standalone application will almost ALWAYS be better than one that's bundled in with some other application
Personally, I create my MP3 ringtones with GoldWave after ripping my CDs with dBpowerAMP.
