What to expect working as a Sales Consultant in a corp. store

Its exactly what it sounds like....After you've hit a certain percentage of your opportunities (120% of your opps is tier 2 and 140% is tier 3) all the opportunities that you've done since the first day of the month are now worth the tier 2 rate or tier 3 rate, respectively.

They set the quotas so its challenging to get to. You normally cant just stand around and make it. At least not in my area. If you make or exceed your quota then it will likely go up. Gotta keep you on your toes ya know?

i just spoke to a corp rep, and he informed me that only managers have access to the telegence billing system and the rest of the people have to use opus. If i'm coming from customer care, would i have access to telegence at all being just a corp rep?

im in the CARE market. According to my managers there are audits to see who is using CARE in the stores. First off, they took any links for CARE off the computers, and if you somehow managed to find the program through some link you weren't suppose to find then a red flag will be raised with your CUID on it...So ya, your stuck using our crappy POS system. You'll learn to hate OPUS everyday...more...and more....

Is the demo line for just instore while on the clock use, Or can you use it to talk to conduct business and maybe a personal call once in a while outside the store? Also how indepth are employee background checks? Will leaving a job without two weeks hurt you?

I'm 20 and have experience in retail working at Abercrombie & Fitch for two years. I would love a job at Cingular but I'm not exactly sure they would find me qualified. I also do not see where else I could get that prior experience in wireless sales if not at Cingular ...

You can get experience selling wireless by working at an indirect. Best Buy is one of many indirect retailers of Cingular, but they don't pay commission so you won't get an idea of what the pay/stress is like working at a corporate store. Try working at RadioShack if you want to get paid commission for selling Cingular. They'll hire anyone.

I dont necessarily "get" the whole commision thing in my store. I mean, I understand wanting to challenge the reps to work that much harder for their money, but I dont understand to what extent and why they do it. Our "target" quota (and by quota I mean where it cuts off) was around 76, our "achievers" quota was around 98, and the "excellence" tier was anything above 98. Now, the "target" is around 97 this month !!! What is Cingular thinking?! Are there heads up there ***es? I just dont get it. I barely made excellence last month. It just sucks.
Im really rethinking this whole "Working for Cingular" thing, since Ill prolly be fired in four months for not hitting my quota anyways
