If you had good enough grades, apply for the Sales Leadership Program. It should be listed on AT&T's site under college hire programs. It's a fast track to having your own store, but very selective. They run the program on a rotating basis, so it's not an immediate job, but worth it if you can get in, so I hear.
The opinions posted on this board reflect my peronsal opinions only and not those of my employer, AT&T.

What's the difference between the Leadership Development Program and the Retail Leadership Program?

Are employees happy with 2011 commission structure at all?

RLP people are corporate robots. They get placed over top of people who have been waiting and doing the job longer than they have. These idiots do not even know how to do inventory yet run a store while the ASM that got passed up gets to train them. Current employees are not eligible for the program because they can not be brain washed.

oh yea quota? $10.50/opportunity for features, $35/opportunity for accessories=2006..last i checked its 45 feat and 70 acc.

Just got hired for a full time RSC position in WNC and start next month. I haven't been able to find an answer on how long it takes for you to receive medical benefits. I'm not too worried about myself I just need the benefits for my two boys. Anyone know how long it takes? I had called the benefits center and they told me they wouldn't be able to tell me until they could pull me up in the system because it depends on my coding or something.

it's been roughly 6 years since i worked for the death star, but im going to go out on a limb here and say most companies have benefits begin within 30-90 days of employment (id say more 90).

but ask your boss to confirm.

I started as a full time RSC in South Carolina in early July. It's six months before you're eligible for subsidized medical benefits. Thirty days if you want to pay the cost of having them unsubsidized (cost prohibitive).

Well crap. Any suggestions on what to do about medical insurance for my kids hit me up in a PM. Don't really know where to start. Guess it's just part of moving jobs.

Still excited though. I know I always see people complain that commission isn't what it used to be but I will be coming form Best Buy Mobile where you can make a small bonus for a month of sales. You don't even get it if the store doesn't perform to expectations.

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

it's going to be very different than BBM i can tell you that. im not sure how the commission is these days, but when i worked early on(2004), it was 100% payout (then again back in 06 we didnt really have much to sell feature wise other than $5 for 250 text, early n&w. hardly anyone bought dumbphone internet, but when a Blackberry sold, we drooled like starving people who havent eaten in 2 months).

honestly i think selling TDMA/GAIT of cingular back early-mid 2000s was the hardest. Id be a fool to not admit that selling cingular back then was hard. It took some good sales skill to have people forget at&t, voicestream(tmobile) and verizon (for better coverage). These days its just packed all-in-one deal. Either way, don't sweat it. As a former BB employee in my teens, remember how much i hated pushing warranties, itll be the same but hitting your targets.

ps: i remember the OP lol. i wonder where hes been. also, try to get cobra coverage if you REALLY need it. Cost an arm and a leg, but itll be something.

My monthly cost for Cobra medical from my old job was almost exactly the same as monthly unsubsidized medical would be for AT&T. It was within a few $$ per month. I'm just rolling the dice of 4 more months without medical.
