    Is my tracfone active?

I sent a referral to a friend who just bought a tracfone. But I don't know if my tracfone is still active - how can I find out?

Basically I activated my phone in March 7 and added a referral card. I have added nothing since. Since the referral was good for 60 days does that mean as of May 7 my phone was no longer active? or is it automatically active for first 6 months?

I need to know because if my referral won't work I need to get her another referral and fast - since she wants to activate TODAY. I would like to get the bonus minutes for being referrer but I don't want to chance her loosing out all together since I talked her into the deal.

I email tracfone 3 days ago to find out but still no answer.

    Please help ASAP! Thanks

It should still be active. Activation will give you 60 days + adding the referral PIN will add another 60 days so your expiration should be 120 days from March 7 (on or about July 7).

I see you're in Canada. You can roam on Rogers by using the *67 workaround. Just dial *67 + area code + number to place a call from Canada and you can see if your phone is still active. It should be.

Thanks didn't know the activation and referral were added together.

I thought it was 60 days from when you added the referral not 60 + 60. Thats great, I will set her up tonight. Thanks.

Turn on your Tracfone and the airtime expiration date will be shown on the screen. Even if you're not in a GSM service area (I see you have Bell Mobility), it should still show the expiration date even if it can't find service.

Yes, look at the TracFone, it will tell you the minutes and the expiration date.

I just didn't know the order of the date - month day or day month.

Anyway all straightened out - got them all connected up. Now hopefully their bonus minutes come in soon.

The default date on Tracfones is always US format: MM/DD/YYYY

Your (and their) bonus minutes should arrive within 72 hours. That is the typical length of time to receive them. Be sure to tell your friend that the referral PIN will probably end up in his/her bulk/junk mail folder so be sure to check there.

I also wanted to point out that the referral PIN that you will receive for referring your friend is good for one year so you can save it and use it to reactivate your phone the next time you're in the US. I wasn't aware that referral PINs could be used for reactivation but numerous people in the Yahoo Tracfone Users Group have done so. It'll save you $20 but the downside is that you'll need to get a new SIM from Tracfone. They will send you a new one for free but only to a US address so it may be more trouble than just buying a new Tracfone.

Well I they activated their phone and followed the referral link on Saturday afternoon. Now its Wednesday afternoon - still no email with referral minutes for them or me for that matter. I am more concerned for them - they need the phone and I suggested Tracfone. Do they count weekends in the 72 hrs? or is it 72 business hrs?

    Thanks

I have found it takes 3 or 4 business days. If you have not heard from them by then give them a call to get it straightened out.

It ended up taking a week!

So now she is trying to put the airtime code into the phone and anytime she goes to Prepaid > Redeem Airtime

It says Not Available! Any ideas why this wouldn't work?

I've had it take as long as 10 days to get RAFs so that's not unusual.

Tracfone firmware can be very quirky. Tell her to redeem online instead and use promo code 54604 with it. It was still valid as of 7/3/06 and will give an additional 30 units if still valid.

Is it just me or is the online add time not working? I just tried and it says "sorry".

It appears to be Tracfone's website. Very slow and pages not responding. I'm on DSL so it's not a dial-up thing. I guess your last option is to call Tracfone CS at 1-800-867-7183 and do it by landline.

Their computers have been very slow as of late. I did a unit transfer from phone to phone yesterday and it took 27 minutes when it normally takes ~15 minutes.

Its not a huge rush right now - so I will wait a bit and see if they get it straightened around.
