i got my cell thru Sasktel.

But The verizon logo appeared when i removed a file called "customer_opening.gif" off my phone... but everytime i put it back... it doesnt make the verizon logo disappear.

You only see it when you start up the phone...

its takes up the entire screen for only a split second and it says something like " VERIZON aGPS" or somethin like that...

its not really a prob... i just want to remove it figuring my carrier isnt verizon >_<

I think he means the boot spalsh. If that's the case, theres a program that can extract CG' " Code Group " images. The boot splash is hard coded in GC3, correct me if im wrong.

File structure varies depending on what model.

Well, it maybe for GSM Phones.. but CDMA phones are another beast all together...

And even if it is part of the CG images..there is no way to extract on a CDMA phone... MOST (if not all) of the GSM hacking tools DO NOT work on CDMA phones... including flash/flex backup programs...

    On a stock Verizon E815...

When you first turn it on, you get the "M" logo with circiles or "bubbles" behind it... Aka "hello Moto" This appears to be embedded in either the flash or flex... and since with CDMA phones we can't do a backup of flash/flex from a phone, to be able to re-flash with it yet... we couldn't edit out if we tried...

... followed by the Verizon logo contained in the customer_Opening.gif

I have NEVER tired deleteing the customer_opening.gif to see what happens...

and I have never seen an Verizon aGPS log on my V710 or E815...

Is it possible, that deleting the customer_opening.gif on the V710/E815 causes the same issue as with deleting the VERIZON.GIF on the V3C/V3M??

and maybe the same steps to fix that, can be used to fix this?

EDIT: Never mind.. I looked up the V3C/V3M fix for whe you delete the verizon.gif... its in a seem.. so you'd have to go hunting to see IF customer_opening.gif was refered to in some way inside ONE of the seems...

sounds like something I wouldn't be interested in spending time on. Heck my phone is turned on 95% of the time anyhow. Interesting info Mark.

Just use the P2K Commander and delete the customer_opening.gif and you won't see that red bootup logo from Verizon. I did it and there are no other consequences from removing it, the screen goes from the HelloMoto bubbles to the greetings screen (My Number blah...blah.) and then the Home Screen, no more Verizon Logo, that's it. By the way, this was done on my V710
