Our agent location received the new price sheets in the other day and the IZAR is on it. The two year price after $50 rebate is $79.99 making it only slightly more expensive then other 3G phones.

Not so. Our office just got the V3xx for testing yesterday and I had a chance to play around with it. I am quite sure it has 240 x 320 pixels, the screen on this phone is beautiful. I thought it was a QVGA screen. The camera is outstanding, it is the best 1.3 megapixel camera I have ever seen on any phone. No question.

What sets this phone apart from the rest of the Moto RAZR's is it's GPU. Yes this phone has a Mobile GPU. Is is the latest and best to be put in a cell phone to date. The Maxx also has one. These are the only two besides a few others with the 4800, other phones have earllier versions of the GPU such as the 4000 and 2150 models. The NVIDIA GoForce 4800 GPU is truely amazing, and man does it improve the camera and screen on this phone. Wow.

I can't wait to see the Maxx's camera with the same GPU.

The lens on the camera is top notch, and the NVIDIA GoForce 4800 GPU enhances the Camera and screen greatly. The new GUI and menu system is slightly different from the K1 and Rizr. I like it, very easy to use. And the dreaded Hi-Speed on the front of the phone is not gone but hardly noticeable. It is under the external screen on the glass and not on the phone like before.

I am truely impressed with this phone. This is what Moto should have been doing all along. Now this is the Moto I remember. They actually put some good technology, camera lens, GPU(one of the first of its kind in any phone) solid construction. It is slightly thicker at 15mm, but who cares. I am going to pick up this phone to replace my aging black V3.

Everyone is waiting on the MAXX, not me. I held both in my hand two months ago and while I did not get a chance to play with both I just played with the Maxx and dismissed the V3xx. Now that I got a chance to really play with the phone and use the phone I actually like it better than the Maxx. I don't know why maybe because it seems familar to me and I like the construction of the original V3 phone or that the Maxx seems cheaper to me. I don't know, I know I like this one better for now. The difference between the two is the Camera. The Maxx has the better camera and better external screen. The design of the phone is much like the original V3, but it is also new. I can't explain it but you just have to hold one in your hands and you will see what I am talking about. This is a great phone. Period.

Oh yeah, it does not have a foward VGA camera. Not on this one anyway, and I think this is a production model. That may change but I doubt it.

Consultants have credibility because they are not dumb enough to work at your company.

Managers are like cats in a litter box. They instinctively shuffle things around to conceal what they've done.

If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day. But if you teach a man to fish he will buy an ugly hat. And if you talk about fish to a starving man then you are a consultant.

Correction: It appears I was wrong. My marketing manager says the foward camera is under the main screen. I saw it but thought they took out the camera since I can't find any menu's for video calling feature anywhere. On further inspection it apprears the camera is there but there is no function or menus for it. Why I don't know. Maybe they will add this feature in the future. Or maybe this isn't a production model. I was told it is a engineering prototype slated for production. I am not a engineer so I don't know. But wouldn't that mean that is a prototype slated for production, like the final product?

Any engineers here care to speculate?

The screen resolution still puzzles me as the Motorola specs say it's 65K for the external and 256 color for the internal display.

Yes that is correct. Quarter Video Graphics Array (also known as Quarter VGA or QVGA) is a popular term for a computer display with 320 × 240 resolution. The name is derived from the fact that it offers 1/4 of the 640 × 480 maximum resolution of the original IBM VGA display technology.

By comparison the original V3 and V3i had 256K colors, with 176 x 220 pixels. Same colors less pixels. I think you are confusing pixels with colors here. Not the same thing. The V3xx and Maxx have 256k colors with 240x 320 pixels. Almost twice as many pixels hence a higher defination screen.

It is the same screen on the V3x and Maxx.

No. I own and operate a Marketing firm with my brother as a partner. We have several contracts for Marketing for Motorola as well as Cingular and quite a few others carriers and phone manufacturers. As well as car companies, airlines, cable and satellite providers, restaurants, professional sports teams such as football, hockey and baseball and too many others to list.

We come up with marketing stratagies and designs for pamplets, billboards, comercials, news paper ads as well as magazine ads. We usually get the phone four to six weeks upon release to come up with various marketing stratgies that accenuate the positive aspects of a particular product and come up with marketing stratgies for that product for our clients target or mass market audience according to market data and more importantly particular target market or location. As every market has it's strenghths and weakness according to area and our clients presence in that area or target market.

Example, we received the Palm 750W about six weeks back. We were asked to come up with marketing the phone and present it to HCA healthsystem as part of a marketing stratgey to which is the largest health system in the United States with Billions of dollars in net worth and over 300 Hospitals.

HCA recently dropped this carrier and went with another about a year and a half back because it lack of 3G services to use with their PDA's and 3G data cards for their electronic charts. Many of the HCA hospitals are going wireless with charts electronically stored on memory cards instead of paper charts. And 3G data PDA's and 3G data cards for their electronic charts were essential to this process to access alot of data quickly and when they needed it. And this particular carrier was not ready for their demands.

Now they are, and want that multimillion dollar contract back. So we were asked to Market the phone as the Flagship phone in their lineup to get this contract back. We are in the process of coming up with the marketing and to release it to this particular carrier once they release the phone which should be in a few days. I can't name, names, but you get the idea.

Well, no need to 'name names' with THAT post!

Sounds like fun work, though (hows that for an oxymoron?)

Well it is hard to describe exactly what I do in a few sentences. And I guess on my post that you know who I was talking about with the HCA deal. That was my intention.

It is fun, but hard work. I usually surf while not busy , but most of my work is making sure that everyone else is doing what they are supposed to be doing.

While I surf and take potential clients out to two hour lunches and travel to trade shows and listen to bad karyoke sung by Japanese tourists and drink good german beer. Hard work but fun.

so... seeing how Cingular is going to debut video sharing at CES, what are the odds that they re-release this phone in 3 months with the front facing cam again?

I just dont' get why cingular is getting rid of these front facing cams (i recently also bought the 8525 with its missing front camera)... i mean you'd expect something like this from verizon who cripples their bluetooth so that you have to pay for ringtones, but with cingular, they're generally slightly more customer friendly in their policies...do they expect us to go out and buy new phones for this feature? It seems like if people's phones already had the capability, they could make more money off it by trying to push a 5 dollar "feature" or allowing it with unlimited media net plans or something.

From what I've read they're waiting until the upgrade to HSUPA to do 2-way video calling since HSDPA's current upload speed would hamper the service.

    So it's like this:

Now: 1-way calling with HSDPA and no front facing cameras on the phones

Late 2007/early 2008: 2-way calling and front facing cameras on the phones
