    Question spring loaded

Anybody tried the spring loaded antenna for the Startacs? Are they any good? How do they look?

Spring-loaded??? Wahy would ANYONE need a spring-loaded antenna? What does it do? Where does the spring go? Post a pic so I don't drive myself crazy trying to picture this in my head.

i dont have a pic.. but its basically like... instead of pulling out the antenna all the time, its spring loaded.. so with a push of a button, it goes "POP!!" and its up... kinda like a switch blade, only its an antenna

How do you retract the antenna? Do you push it back in? Startac antennas are already so flimsy. I wouldn't want to have to push it back in against the force of a spring. I've already broken enough antennas.

These antenna's are actually entirely metal. no flimsy rubber on'em at all so you just push down on them and they retract fully into the case. kinda cool. i was thinking of getting one back when I had a startac.

installation sounds kind of "challenging" is this mod done by pros or can it be done by anyone?

It is a very very simple modification, if you can even call it that. It is mearly and anntena replacement that screws into the spot where the oem goes. everything for the spring mechenism is built into the base of the anntena, so there is nothing to worry about in terms of installation. you press a tiny button on the side of the anntena and it pops right up. nice and easy.
