Hp IPAQ 6955 from rogers

according to rogers Q3 catalog, rogers going to carry IPAQ 6955 in next couple of weeks .
they still didnt released the price but the good news is rogers gonna carry it maximum from end of this month or sooner .

Will it be able to replace my BB for full push email capability without killing me on data charges? MyMail is a disaster so I assume I will have to rely on the built in push mail capability of WM5. Is it as seamless, quick and reliable as push on the BB? Plus, using our BES at work and the Rogers BB plan, data is never an issue but I am concerned that with the number of emails I get in a day, using push and a Rogers data plan (as opposed to a BB plan) will cost me a fortune.
Any comments? (But I still can't wait to get back to the PPC platform!)

i believe when the 6515 came out for rogers, the unit price was 899

hp.ca has the 6950 at 699, and its rumored that the 6955 will be 749 (50 more)

i think rogers offering it at 349 (on 3 yr) is as low as its gonna get...there is a chance maybe that it will hit 199; as when teh Treo 650 came out, rogers I believe knocked their 600 prices down to 199

if you really want the 6515 however, you can either get it here in the BST or wait for when the 6950/5 is released and see what happens to the price

They seems not like the idea ppl to use data services other than $GPRS/EDGE$. I won't be surprised if we get a E62-like version of the device.

rogers has already released a Wifi enabled device in the past..the hp 6300 series...

according to hp.ca the unit will have wifi...so not to worry

Just wondered why you consider MyMail to be a disaster? I have been using it since being introduced and even though I am currently using "push email" (not with BES though) with my Qtek 8500, I still use MyMail too (both with the 8500 and an hw6515). I have the "push email" set up for only one account, business email and I use MyMail for 6 other personal email accounts.

Regarding data use, you are correct, Rogers is expensive. I have the 15MB option for $60 but the next step up is $100 and I quite often exceed the 15MB limit. Last month I hit 35MB and it cost me $99.

I actually paid $325 for my hw6515 back in April I think. Rogers was running a special back then, presumably to clear out stock to make room for the 6900 series. So, I would expect that $199 is possible once the hw6955 has been introduced.

I called and talked with the HP.ca shopping customer rep, who said they are being told the first week in Sept.

I woudn't think a PPC could replace a Blackberry as far as push capabilities. Besides, I use over my 3MBs sending and receiving about two emails per day and that's even using the always-up-to-date feature on a 4smartphone account with my (WM 2003) 6515. And there is no 'heartbeat' with that... the phone receives a silent text message that induces a sync. In fact, I'm considering giving up the PPC in favour of a BB because of the email... I like my PPC a lot but the data is so very expensive.

I don't like MyMail either. Don't exactly know why - I just don't see the need to download yet another application to do something MS has built-in natively.

And hofo_mofo... do you think Rogers will carry the camera-less version of the 6900? They didn't sell the 6510, did they? Or did you just have to ask for it?

hp.ca now shows the 6950 for $649.

Can't wait for this one to be released. The Palm 700wx or 750 would have been a nice form factor for a WM device, but I have no idea when they would be released.
