Samsung and emergency calls with 08 Send

OK So we all know if you dail 911 u get the emergency number-DUH!, if you dial 911 when the phone is locked, it will ask to call SOS yes or no - Thats understandable. But why if you dial 08 you get the same SOS?? with the phone locked or unlocked. These are T-Mobile Samsung phones too. Any one have any insight?? Thanks!!
So I no longer have the big hot pink T over my head, nor do I bleed Magenta. I now sell Land Line phones, DSL and IPTV!!

08 is part of the Emergency number for several countries and is treated just like 911 when dialed from a cell phone. Even if the keypad is locked, dialing 08, 911, 112 and other internationally recognized Emergency numbers.

You can read more about it and the number combinations that will still dial out on any GSM brand of cell phones with or without the keypad locked.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_telephone_number

This may not be true for Domestic GSM phones (i.e. those with only the 850/1900Mhz bands) that they will recognize the other international emergency numbers.

This seems to be true for US CDMA phones to only dial 911 since it will only work (by default) in the US/Canada.

Yeah, 911 is the Emergency number for USA. 08 is an international Emergency number.

Only 911 will work for American CDMA Samsungs.

To bring back a dead thread.....Is there anyway to edit the emergency numbers so it wont dial emergency numbers by 08 send or 911 send either when locked or not on the t809?

Is there a way to flash the phone so that the programming is erased. thanks all!!!

    Samsung SGH-X820 question

    Hi guys,

I've been meaning to ask before, but I think it's more important now since they've called me about it. When I lock my phone and the phone is in my pocket, for some reason sometimes it dials 911 (even though the keys are locked). Does anyone else have this problem and do you know how to turn it off? I use Fido in Toronto. Thanks.

Wow interesting. I just tried this on my X820, and even though the pad is locked, I am still able to dial 911 and it will ask "dial emergency call?". However, i've NEVER had it dial something on its own for me. As a matter of fact, I don't think my phone has even pressed a button while in my pocket, as the buttons are very flush and difficult to press.

I don't think there is a way to turn this off though.

Well, I just had a friendly chat with my local 911 operator this morning by accident. How embarassing!! Apparently I jostled the T509 in my pocket in just the right manner to dial the SOS number even with the keypad locked. And I thought those little voices coming from my pocket were just my imagination

So did anyone in this thread ever figure out how to turn off the feature where SOS can be dialed even with keypad locked? There is absolutely nothing in the Samsung user manual of course. Thanks in advance!!

I like my T509 Samsung phone and all, but I keep dialing SOS 911 from my pocket, and it's embarrassing trying to explain to the 911 dispatcher the accident.

Any updates on fixing this issue?
