( I refused to wait and got a replacement phone at v01)

Any info on this or was he full of it?

Thanks for the guide and programs, I upgraded both of them successfully.

The program does beep when it can't communicate with the phone, and i had to change the port# to 10
V4 is for the 8500. Tech probably got confused.

Anyone else have the roming indicator come on full time after the upgrade to v3? I tried *228 programming and update and still have the roaming indicator.

ScottB check your settings in LG Download and see if it shows you as having an eri, prl, and all those types of things. If they are missing just send those items over and it will be good. If that doesn't work just use the tutorial on how to recover/repair your phone in this tutorial. I also posted some information about it in the thread that was titled something like Should I update my firmware or something like that... If you got any questions dont hesitate to ask.

I appreciate your assistance. I had to do the reinstall back to v1 and go over. Fortunately I backed everything up before hand. Now the roaming indicator is gone.

I saw something that concerned me though. When I rebooted the phone after "restoring" all of my games and apps, I saw the message "registering apps" appear for a bit and the phone was calling out. Hmmmm. What was it registering?

I saw the same message as well. I assume it was registering anything you got from GIN; why that registration would be necessary I don't.

Yeah, it does that with v01, did with all of mine. I don't recall exactly what its doing but I THINK it does it the first few times you fire your phone on till it successfully talks to the server. It does it to check if your subscribed to the GIN applications on your phone (firmwares with that won't allow you to run the "download, then cancel, then put the application back on the phone") Once it runs though THEN you can do that though. However I didn't see that on any other firmware versions just v01 and just the first few times I booted up my phone. I have heard about people with this on the 9800 also with a certain firmware so that they cant use those applications they cancel and haven't paid for. I am pretty sure my answer is correct however I am not 100% certain it is
