Equalizer coming to BlackBerry Media Player

I had a chance to quickly test drive a BlackBerry Curve with a newer OS that included an equalizer in the media player. My RIM contact tells me that the forthcoming OS shouldn't be too far along now and that there some great things coming down the pipeline. I've attached a screenshot of the EQ below.

That is very exciting to hear... the media player on it currently doesn't sound too great, I hope the EQ is able to enhance it a little bit. Can you give us a little more details on what else will be in it?

My only worry about the new RIM OS is with all the new features how will the device handle it with still just 64mb of RAM? If they do not do better on memory management and fix the memory leak, all these new features will crash our devices! These new features will only increase the size of the OS and give us even less free memory. RIM has got to improve it's software for exsiting devices and/or give us devices with a couple GB of device memory!

Mr Moderator, how is this new OS doing on memory use?

Finaly an improvement to the media player. Can't wait for the new OS.

By the way, is that a CDMA Curve coming up you tested on or its a GSM?

I have heard that next gen devices will come with more onboard memory. The device I tested had about 14.5MB of free onboard memory remaining but the owner had 5 themes, 3 games, a couple mp3 ringtones and 7 or 8 third party apps all installed on the device memory. With all of that and having 14.5MB is plenty of space so I don't think there would be an issue of calendar entries and/or messages disappearing. During my time with the device the I checked the memory often to see how low the memory would dip and it got down to about 11MB then stop, it wouldn't dip any lower than that.

When I posted that I heard next gen devices will come with more than 64MB of memory, I meant future BlackBerry devices from RIM.
