G1 Has a Data Only Plan Now!

Its not yet on the web-site or anything like that but if you call and speak to a CSR in retentions like I did, they will offer it to you. You will also be able to get the G1 for 159 instead of 179 with a 2-year agreement. They said that there have been numerous complaints about this and said that they will have it in the near future. So if you have been looking for something like this call up and check it out.

Cheers!

Data-only plan is $24.99. If you set a G1 (with Blackberry Data) to epc.t-mobile.com as the APN, then goto a website, it allows you to see a list of available plans. In there, there is a data-only plan for $24.99.

Yeah, that's not news if it's the $24.99 plan. Whether that's "data only, but we're going to charge you the same price as data+400msgs" , or "when you ask for data only, we're going to put you on the data+400msgs plan", either way, it's not worth jumping up and down about.

The three things I want to hear about are:

1) "Data Only service add-on" that is cheaper than the data+400msgs service add-on.

2) "Data Only plan" (ie. no voice, no messages), like what they used to offer for "Total Internet Only" for ($30/mo? $40/mo ... something like that).

3) A G1 pay-per-day plan comparable to the Sidekick pre-paid plan and the Pay Per Day plan. Ideally, it wouldn't be limited to the G1, but usable with any phone (except perhaps special devices like the sidekicks and blackberries), so you could use it with WinMo phones, or even Symbian phones, and the structure would be like this: $1/day for unlimited M2M and N&W, $.50/day for unlimited messaging, $1/day for unlimited data (incl. tethering), and then a reasonable per-minute rate for other voice calls.

Well Unlimited Data and Text Only, no Voice mins. I need that because I have nextel voice mins and and data is terribly slow. Oh and if you wondering why I dont just use the G1 for voice mins, it is because I have a HUGE discount with Nextel that T-Mobile or any other service cant match up to. So Im good. Plus I just got the Freelancers 10% discount on my T-mobile bill. I tried to also add the Free Myfaves, but you need mins for that.
