Ok, let's play nice kiddies. We all know that sprint has always been top notch and more technologically advanced than anyone. They don't rush to market with phones, they make sure that the kinks are worked out before they release it to the public.

Sprint was the first company with digital phones (they created CDMA), digital screens on their handsets. They were the first to offer (some form of) internet on their phones with "wireless web". They were the first with color displays. They were the first with camera phones. They created the integrated web on phones with "vision". They created the 3g networks. They were the first to offer streaming video on their phones. They were the first to allow you to back your contacts up online. They were the first with wireless cards for laptops.

NOW THE TRUE HISTORY.
Verizon has problems because of their history. They're a hodgepodge of companies. They were originally created from a merger between Bell Atlantic (sister company to BellSouth, a division of AT&T that became Cingular) and GTE Wireless (an agreement of hundreds of local cell companies to share each others network). THEN they acquired Alltel, which used to be 360 wireless, which used to be SPRINT WIRELESS. The FCC told Sprint (back in the late 80's) that they couldn't "monopolize" the market with cell phones and land line phones. So Sprint Wireless became 360 and then Alltel. The original AT&T had TDMA technology, and Sprint CREATED and has always used CDMA.

Sprint gets money from their customers, roaming, Virgin, Nextel, Helio, Verizon, GSM services that roam on CDMA, and Clearwire. Funny, the FCC stepped in again and scolded Sprint, but this time Sprint spun off their land line side, which is now Embarq, and kept the wireless money.

So Verizon's coverage, that they love to brag about so much, runs off the backs of Sprint as well as AT&T.

HD YouTube it doesn't have, Browser isn't as good, Camera is known to be only equal to the iPhone if the bug isn't in play (resolution doesn't mean much without good optics and software), nobody carries extra batteries around. I'll give you the larger screen & higher resolution not to mention better speaker, but that's it because I have no problems with AT&T and their 3G speeds are better. Verdict is still out, but I doubt the Droid will have better battery life than the iPhone.

It does have better battery life then the ipod touch.. I can tell from using both on wifi continuosly the Droid lasts a oil longer. PS I'm in new York nd I know quite a few peeps with the bb bold and other smartphones who have benn saying there 3g service sucks lately. At&t ain't bad but , You never everrrrrr loose a call on a vzw phone factt!!! I know never say never but really far and few missed calls on vzw where at&t at least 1 a day. And droid does multi task so at%t should work on a better radio commerical knock on vzw lol but who cares I got the drroid and love it.

I just want to point out that I owned the Samsung Moment for 2 weeks and it was definitely not ready for market. It has android 1.5, the GPS always says you are in Ireland or the Middle East, the call quality was terrible and the battery drained fast and didn't report it's actual life well at all (ie 2 minutes off the charger down to 80%, then 60% and 40% just 20 minutes later and then sit at 20% for a few hours before dieing).

Maybe that is the first time Sprint has done that but it was the first time i was with them and it's what sent me to VZW and the Droid.

Hope moment owners get the 2.0 update soon. sucks to not have the navigation and voice search, etc.

this thread is ridiculous to each is own for provider..thinking about the droid from my blackberry but would miss bbm5.0 to much. I use the group chat for work with the integrated calander, threaded chat, picture uploads. Anyone seen anything like this - maybe a 3rd party app that includes all this and works with different providers and devices?

Ahhh... great reason for the DROID to have the directional pad that everyone wants to complain about.

A comment like that is uncalled for. Because someone chooses to have a bible program then they're a "religious freak"?

So the guy who plays doom, is he a "murderous freak"?

The negativity has not place here.

I have boost because I hate contracts, so maybe an alternative would be the Nokia N900 or the Motorola CliQ since they're on t-mobile, however, then I'm traveling back in time to the "brick" sized phones again.

Still, I love how the Nokia uses all of it surface area with no buttons. I like that clean stealth look. It's also interesting how Nokia is referring to the N900 as a "mobile computer", and saying things like, "The device also has a fully functional phone". Very interesting.

As far as the "chin" on the DROID, it's supposed to be a space to add future attachments (...oooook?). Who knows, maybe a hack will come out to use it on Sprint.
