So i was at the bar, a friend of a friend saw my E398 and thought it was the iTunes phone and i explained how it was the original yada yada... the he busts out "Betcha haven't seen one of these". I was like "WTF is that???" Easily comparable to pictures that I have seen of the SP5, but an HP! It was running WM 5.0 and had a 320x240 screen... wifi, BT 1.2 i believe, 1.3 MP cam, dont know about internal memory, but he did have a 1gb minisd card under the battery. and model # xb4500 (do NOT quote me on the first 2 letters, i was adrinkin... but positive on the 4500). It was much thicker than my E398, yet seemed to be contoured (sp?) around the back. around the front edge was a chrome lining, a very nice touch. He said it was a prototype that his friend gave him, and he is looking into getting me the other one (yea we'll see about that.. even though i offered CASH MONEY upfront). Unfortunately, he wasnt too sure that they would be put into production. Here's the kicker, it was branded TMOBILE on the back, standard stamp... so what does that mean?? PLEASE dismiss the crappy E398 camera pics, but i had to capture the moment somehow. I'm throwin a party tomorrow so wont be able to answer any questions at all for a few days... but i thought I'd share.
This looks to be MS fabeled "Peabody" smartphone. MS wanted to mass prouduce them (thru a manufacturer of course) as a low cost smartphone for the masses.

woah, nice catch rock. kinda looks like the tornado (i-mate sp5, qtek 8310 variant) from the keyboard. i wonder if its just another htc rebrand? maybe with some chrome around the sides instead of the grey plastic?
I do...I just can't find them. Remember that was a prototype picture and in fact there were several different models made by different manufactures, it wasn't just one. So its hard to say. There hasn't been much info on peabody. I am only speculating at this point.
Speculation is all we have right now i suppose. I emailed my friends' friend, (ok that is getting old quick) and asked him for some hi-res shots of the device.
Yeah it looks like a Tornado but I can't be to sure. I would need to know the specs and some clearer pictures to make that assumption. However, I until I find more info on peabody and those damn pictures I had of it, forget I said anything about it lol.
One last thing, since you said it was branded T-Mobile and T-Mobile tends to love HP products, I am betting that this the prototype of the US Tornado version for T-Mobile. Like the SDA but made by HP. We all know that HTC makes alot of HP's PDA's and such. I wouldn't put it past HP to have a smartphone under its wing.
I can't wait for the clear pictures...that will help out alot.

This must be the one that T-Mobile USA is going to release. Thats pretty cool looking. Looks better than the 2125 and it has Wi-fi.....shame on Cingular.
It doesn't look like the HTC Tornado but if could be a varient of it. Take a look at the keypad on the SP5 then on rw4500...they look different but I am thinking that is a Tornado varient.
