When you email ringtones to yourself you pay for the email and the sound quality is not so good. There is a much better way for free. click on the link below for full instructions.
Whatever way you record you own ringtones allways record then louder. there are many free downloads on the internet to do this.
This may be old news to some of you, but may also be helpful to some of the newer users.
I noticed that after I get Bitpim running and go to /motorola/shared/audio and right click one of the files in there, I am able to overwrite the files with any *.mp3 file that I want.
Originally used the XXXXXXXXXX@vzwpix.net method to send a small low quality 20sec. *.mid sound clip to myself, then used the bitpim method mentioned above to overwrite the file with a high quality 2min. *.mp3 file. Sound quality was perfect and the file is VERY loud. Used a 192Kb encoded file for this.
However, Bitpim failed after sending 1631Kb, just think that it was an application error though.

You want to be a little more specific?? that link takes you to listing of threads at that discusssion group... if you are talking about the topic titled "Ringtones" that is just the old "outbox trick" which requires you to purchase/have a Transflash card... This process does not. If you are going to only email a few ring tones, at $.25 per message, this way is cheaper...
Oh, btw... if you follow this email process correctly.. the Sound Quality is NOT AFFECTED... When I wrote up the steps for the original process, I used MPT to copy the test file from the phone back to the PC and Verified it matches the original...
I do not have a V3C to confirm this. but V3C users are having mixed results. It appears, like V710 users, V3C users must RENAME .MP3 to .MID prior to emailing... albeit for a different reason... Based on reports in different threads, if emailing as .MP3 extension, the file does make it to the phone, but it plays out of "the wrong speaker"??? But if you rename to .MID, then email, it plays correctly when received at the phone and set as ring tone... so V3C users try it each way and PLEASE REPORT BACK!!!

i am using the audacity to create ring tones, and i have increased the volum to +12db, 128bps, but after i email the ringtone to my E815. still very low compare to those MIDI tones come with the phone.
any 1 can help?
Save the ringer to your desktop. Change the file name to mid, and then send as email attachment. It will definately be louder. If it still isnt loud enough to suit you, you can try editing with software. Of course this has been stated, cant determine why it isnt working with some.
Question for you Verizon Motorola RAZR V3c people...
I am going to attempt to put converted midis (from mp3s) as ringtones using bluetooth on my mac. I am already able to see the directories of my RAZR. However, there are two directories of interest..."audio" and "ringtones". Any ideas which directory I should drag and drop my converted midi files into? Does it matter?
Let me know if anyone knows. I am going to experiment tonight and if I don't hear back I'll update this post with my findings. Thanks!

FYI...either directory worked. Audacity rules! Ringtones for life!
