While visiting my local VZW store to get some upgrades yesterday I again asked an RSC I work with and the Store Manager about the 6800 and the Sammy i760. They are well aware of my interest in the 6800. They said the Sammy rep had just been by a week before and told them the i760 was not going to be released as planned. It is going back into the shop to get Rev A in the hardware. Sammy apparently believes the i760 cannot sell for long against the 6800 and other PDA phones with no hope of a Rev A upgrade.

This is not the same info I got from another VZW store not long ago who had also been visitied by their Sammy rep. Perhaps the decision was made between the visits.

I hope the Sammy rep was not giving out good information, but the logic would make sense with Sammy having to worry about more than the 6800 having Rev A in hardware and upgradeable as needed. Perhaps someone can get confirmation or denial of this from another source.

yea yea....for me it's Labor day, which I know is the 1st Monday in Sept. or 9/3. That's when the Summer ends!

As for the delay on the Sami for Rev A......I hate to say this but It may be worth the wait if we were only talking a like 2 months. Any more and........

I'm buying the i760 to replace my i730. But that won't be for a while. I'll get the i760 when it's more than halfway through its sale life.

Ok per other posts the i760 is here 7/4 and the 6800 is here 7/18. Not enough of a difference to make or break the decision for me. Also the post said REV A for both i760 and 6800........this up's the ante.........NOW which phone are you going to choose?

I keep seeing that everyone believes the i760 to be smaller in dimension but from searching on other sites such as PDAdb.net, it seems that the 6800 is the smaller of the two in every dimension while having a 1mm bigger screen.

That being said, I've previously had a 6600 and i730. I thought the build and stability of the i730 was great. I had major problems with the 6600. Not sure about the 6700 but have heard bad thing about it. This is what is pushing me toward the i760. However, the 6800 seems to me more like an iPhone design. I don't want an iPhone because I like the WM OS but I do feel envious when I think of the screen and design of it.

So, past history of build quality and stability is pushing me toward the i760 and looks is pushing me toward the 6800.

I'll probably get whichever comes out first. I'm sick of my 700WX and it's square screen. I just hope whichever phone I end up with lasts me longer than the WX or the W before it.

The release information I've seen shows the 760 as WM5 and the 6800 as WM6. That would do it for me. 6800.

You must have missed the "official" leaked Verizon announcement where it says the i760 is WM6.0 and the XV6800 is WM5.0. You should expand your release information sources.

Latest Release Information

Actually I'm getting newer information from Howardforums here. I'm not certain if the one in December 2006 is more accurate than this, but I thought since it is very recent, that the 6800 would have WM6.

I'm curious to know why so many of you would not want the Libra? I know it doesn't have a touchscreen, but it does have the numeric pad, which was a big knock against the xv6700. What's the drawback to the Libra?
