Thumbs up New K550i Firmware (R6BC002) CID52 via FOTA

version number R6BC002 Dated 7th June 2007

File is 3229kb in size. took about 10 mins to download and about the same for the phone to update itself.

doing a quick check for bug fixes it seems to have fixed the problem with the camera button and the 0,4, 6 buttons not responding, camera software was updated and the Java version was bumped up to 7.5

phone feels very snappy and responsive now, well done SE at last!

Hey Moon-Unit,

I just updated my k550i to the R6BC002 firmware via the Update Service feature on the phone. The file size was only about ~2400kb for me. It was pretty easy and straight forward download & install.

Where did you go to find the bug fixes and updates that this firmware provides? I did a search on the web and found nothing.

-thanks

I tried doing the update via service on the phone, but it said service was interrupted and since this is my first phone, how else would I update the firmware? Also, what does FOTA means?

Updates for FOTA depend on your phone's CDA. If the update wasn't released for your region yet then you won't be able to update your firmware. You can always download SEUS onto your computer and update that way, but just make sure when you choose the language region for the program, choose the region where the update has already been released. SEUS is free, for those who don't know.

I believe SEUS will check the CDA of the phone, regardless of what region you chose in the app.

Doesn't for me though... I'm using HK CDA on my phone and whenever I run English Canada for my region in SEUS, it'll say that my phone is up to date. However, if I go to the HK region, it'll have an update for me (providing, of course, that there actually is an update).

Paco is correct. The only thing you choose at the start of SEUS is the language SEUS uses. SEUS will update your phone based on the CDA alone. If SEUS released the firmware to the hong kong region and your phone has the hong kong CDA then it will update your phone regardless of language you choose to have SEUS use.
