Matrix vs Matrix Pro

My son has recently upgraded to the Pantech Matrix and my wife to the Matrix Pro. The Matrix did not come with a USB cable but the Matrix Pro is supposed to. As we have not yet received the Matrix Pro, I was wondering if the USB cable would work for both phones and if there was any kind of software the could be used to sync these phones to Windows XP and Windows Vista.

In the box is a usb cable, a proprietary 3.5mm audio adapter, home charger, microfiber pocket pouch and a getting started disc which includes microsoft's activesync 4.5. It's really easy to set-up and use.
