Smartphone Combo Without Contract?

Hello,

I am thinking of signing up for the Blackberry $45 combo plan (should be $40 bundled with home phone). I will be using my unlocked Bold 9000. I would like to try out the new network for a while before making any committments.

Is the Blackberry $45 combo plan available without contract?

Thanks.

No, the smartphone combo plans are not available on no contract. All of the combo plans must be on a 36 month term.

Another tip:

You can get 20% off per month if you sign the contract and use your unlocked Bold.

I know you didn't ask about this -- but it is relevant to your situation if you decide to lock in.

You need to go with one of the normal Uber plans and then add on a data plan/data value pack if you want to sign a 30 day contract.

does this apply only on new activations or upgrades as well? and does it also apply to corporate plans?

Bell better start ensuring customer satisfaction or they'll go to #4 for new activations/customers.

Consumer plan only - IIRC.

New activations.

This is good to know. Assuming I can also get the $5 bundle discount, then I would be looking at $32 + SAF + tax monthly. I don't mind committing to 3 years.

One other question: is tethering allowed on this plan? I couldn't find the answer anywhere on Bell's site. I know 500 MB isn't a lot for tethering, but it's just for occasional use. Is overage $0.03 MB (or $30 for a full GB)?

Thanks,

Another option is to pick up an iPhone on the 3 year contract and then sell the iPhone off contract. Use the money from the sale of the iPhone to pay your fee's if you decide to cancel. You'll probably still end up in the hole, but you'll be less in the hole.
