TP2: WMDC doesnt connect?

Having problems connecting a CDMA hybrid TP2 to WMDC; and after researching i found the following;

The following soln worked, but i am curious to know why this makes a difference; thks!

Solution: Start -> Settings -> All Settings (bottom left) -> Connections -> USB to PC

uncheck "Enable faster data synchronization"
