I just called T-mobile because I bought 2 phones for my parents just wanted to check on the internet plan so that I can use it with my ATT phone (if possible). I asked about the $29.99 unlimited plan and they said that it's no longer available but there is a $9.99 T-Zone plan for unlimited internet access, and this is even better.
My questions are:
1. Can I use this thing with a laptop? Assuming that I got all the cables and stuff.
2. How is the logon process (if any at all), if using through Laptop or PDA?

you will be able to use it with your laptop if using bluetooth, I dont know if a cable will work or not as I only use bluetooth. The 9.99 is only suposed to be for WAP access but as we all know this isnt the case.

Please explain a little more, I don't think I have bluetooth on my ATT Phone. What about the $29.99? Can I use it with laptop also? and does it require bluetooth?
Just to clarify if I am on a low minute plan and I have unlimited T-Zones will unlimited T-Zones take from my minutes or can I get on unlimited T-Zones if I am out of minutes.

T-Zones is GPRS data, it is not related to minute usage.
I think it can be added to any voice plan (but do not quote me on that one)

If you are saying T-Zone $9.99 is not for internet browsing on PDA/laptop then you are incorrect. I just signed up for a free month today and went home, and hooked up my phone into my laptop using a USB data cable, install the USB driver and Windows XP recognized the internal GPRS modem. After that I went to Network Connections - New Connection - put in *99# as the phone number to dial and nothing else. Click done and bam bam bam, in 3 seconds I am hooked up to the Internet. I browsed Yahoo, Microsoft, HoFo, and many other and it is about 56Kbps speed. I tried to download a 1.2MB file from the Internet and it went steady of 6.01 KB/s which is ~ 56Kbps.
I think I am going to keep this plan. Pretty handy while I'm on the road.
Once again, T-Zone is not just strictly for WAP on cell phones only but it is also for laptop and PDAs (haven't tried PDA) though.
Go cancel your $19.99 and get this one, it's the same but cheaper I think.

Yes it does work...but as stated it is not intended by T-Mobile to be used as a connection to the internet for a PDA and Laptop. T-Zones uses the apn wap.voicestream.com and the 19.99 plan uses internet2.voicestream.com or internet3.voicesteam.com. Wap.voicestream.com is currently open to internet traffic, but could be shutdown at any time, so don't be mad if it does change in the future. Just be glad that you saved money up to this point on something that wasn't supposed to work like that.
Yeah I just switched to this from the Smartphone plan but be warned, if T-Mo feels like it they can block our ability to surf the net through their WAP APN and we can't say a single thing. I'm hoping they leave it like this for a while but there's no guarantee.
I think the $29.99 is mainly if you are getting a separate laptop card from T-mo purely for data. I believe the $9.99 T-zones pro requires a voiceplan

i totally agree and i believe there would have lot of ppl crying and complaining about tmo shuts down the wap for internet surfing. I see tmo has their right to do so since we are not supposed to use tzone to surf the net.

I disagree. We are to use their gateway for access right?
And are we not doing that? Would it have been okay, if the unlimited T-Zones was still $19.99?
It's not illegal, and we are browsing thru the proper channel. So, what is the problem??????

KaribOS, I'm not saying it's illegal at all but rather a screwup on T-Mo's side that is to our benefit.
By nature unlimited T-Zones is exactly what it says...T-Zones which is wap. For some reason T-Mo has allowed a lot/if not all network traffic to flow through their wap.voicestream.com APN when it should be limited to WAP traffic.
If you look at many other carriers, you cannot do what we are doing using the regular WAP APN. Trust me, it is not meant to be like this but I'm glad it is!!
