I love the h6315.. But, I however have come across a problem that seems to be a problem with all of the h6315's I have used and T-Mobile wireless data group has used.. i have gotten in touch with their tier 3 wireless data dept. and they have comfirmed there is a problem with sending email over 6k or so using GPRS as the connection.. Also seems to be causing a problem when using the phone as a bluetooth modem.. You can browse on the net ok, but if you try to upload a file, send an email, or anything it will drop the GPRS connection immediatly.. I have had my hands on two 6315's, but have the same problem.. T-Mobile wireless data rep didn't believe me, se he unboxed a new one, set up email and had the exact same problem.. Called me and said he has good news and bad news.. Good news is he see's exactly what I'm talking about, bad news is that he has no answer on how to fix it.. He was going to get it to his supervisor and then send some info to HP..
If any of you can try, take a picture, and try to send it to your email addres as an attachment.. I bet it gives you a couple different errors and doesn't leave your outbox. I've tried different access points and no go..
I don't know about MMS.. But if you were able to email it from the mail client on the 6315 to yourself, that's pretty good.. This is using GPRS as the method of connection, not Wi-Fi.. I can send small messages fine on wi-fi and GPRS, but a message of any size or with attachments can only be sent via Wi-Fi right now.. Lucky me huh?
I have the same problem and have been complaining to T-Mobile for nearly a week. They never acknowledged to me that they knew it was a problem. I hope it is resolved soon.
I can send email with attachments using WiFi, but over GPRS I have had no success. I can receive attachments fine.
I also tried this last night. It definitely causes a problem. It give a wierd error when sending or trying to sync with an email in the outbox with an attachment.
Thanks for the replies guys.. It makes me feel better that I'm not the only person having this problem.. If you can, call and get up with their tier 3 in the wireless data and let them know you too have this problem..
As for the weird messages.. Sometimes it will act like it sends and doesn't give an error, other times it says to check network coverage and if I have that option on my plan basicly.. I still feel like it is dropping or over saturating the GPRS connection on a continuous send....
Chris O'connor in their wireless data group said he is going to keep me up to speed on it.. I will email him tomorrow to see if we have any more information.. I'd hate to return this because it cannot do a simple task like send email...

Not only do I have this problem, but I am not able to send SMS or send/recieve MMS using the h6315. I have 4 trouble tickets open and I am calling everyday. Not tech believes me even when I start talking technical with them and even go into detail everything I have tried. This is making the iPAQ less and less usable for me. To top it all off Tier 1 and Tier 2 WDG people have been clueless on the device when I call so far. CSRs have been throwing vip 1st/6th month free at me 200 minutes for both my accounts since I am telling them I want to return the device and get out of the extended 1 year contract with them with there poor planning on this and laughable support structure they have for this device. I mean come on how hard is it to learn this device?
Cliff notes:
-Cant send alot of data over gprs in the form of email or large data transfers.
- Cant send SMS (recieveing is fine)
- Cant send/recieve MMS at all.
- Had to create an access point in the iPAQ to connect correctly using the $20 a month gprs plan.
- Cant use wap.voicestream.com at all as a connection on the iPAQ even if I wanted like on the N6600
Phones that I can successfully use SMS, MMS, WAP browsing and email, and then as a modem for my PDA or Laptpop
N6600
N3650
SPV e200
T68i
T28
e715 (for everything but using it as a modem)
I have the unlimited GPRS (now known as Tmobile Internet) for 19.99 for my data plan and buddytime for my sms pacjage

Are you getting errors when trying to send SMS and MMS? I am able to send those with no problem.. If I was you, I would go and try their demo unit, if it works for you, plop your sim card in that unit and try again.. If it doesn't work, then you have a plan problem, if it works in their demo, you have a phone problem.. I however have not touched a 6315 that will send larger emails correctly....

Ok so I looked at the available data packages that I can shooce from when I log into Tmobile.
TM Internet TM Internet $19.99
HotSpot Unlimited Service Wireless broadband Internet from thousands of locations nationwide for your laptop or PDA. (Requires wireless network card. T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition does not support HotSpot Service) $19.99
TM Internet & HS TM Internet & HS $19.99
TM Internet & HS VPN TM Internet&HS $19.99
TM Internet VPN TM Internet $19.99
Sidekick Unlimited Data Service Ideal for Sidekick device. Add this service to any National or Regional voice rate plan for an additional $20 per month. Get unlimited e-mail access, AOL® Instant Messenger Service, Web browsing, and text messaging. $20.00
Int w/Cor MyEmail&HS Int w/Cor MyEmail&HS $29.98
Int w/Corp MyEmail Int w/Corp MyEmail $29.98
Int w/Corp MyEmail VPN Int w/CorMyEmail $29.98
Int w/Cor MyEmail&HS VPN Intw/CorMyEml&HS $29.98
And now I am on the phone with a Tmo CSR who is verifying information on the TM Internet & HS for 19.99. I found out that you will be charged 19.99 for each service so 39.90 in total. That is not what I see when I look at how they have it on the website. It looks like that I would get both TM Internet and HS for 19.99 total.
I took a picture, went in to MMS and selected the picture. Instead of putting a mobile number in I put an email address in and it went over GPRS and I got it in my email a minute later.
I have the Unlimited plan but I have a VPN account and that may make a difference because I have my own private IP.
Sending a MMS message works fine for me as well.. But that is totally different than sending an email out.. Also, like I've said before, I have no problems sending small one or two line emails.. It's when I get to a message size of around 4k that it will flip.. I can send anything I want if I'm connected via Wi-Fi.. But GPRS is giving issues.. I have the unlimited VPN as well.. Maybe they just don't know what needs to be updated yet.. There is most certainly an issue....

Yeah, I am having major reliability issues with the email over GPRS.
1st, are you using "T-Mobile My Email"?
I am.... and downloading email has never been so slow. Even on Wifi connection, it takes very long to connect to the server and do download each email. My last ppc (HP4350) FLEW when on wifi network.
Also, it sometimes gets stuck on a message for like 5 minutes then just disconnects from the network.
In my opinion, no reliable.
2nd, sending email over GPRS just isnt happening.
Next time I'll recheck the size and all, but again, it's just not reliable.
I'm really trying to love this device.
T-MO, HELP ME LOVE THIS DEVICE!!
Hi there, yes, I have used the T-Mobile my email.. And yes it is very slow... The reason it takes so long is because when you connect to it, it will reach out to the mail account it is attached to and check for new mail... It takes it a little bit to do.. Especially if you are like me and leave messages on the server for multiple computers.. I think it's just the way it is.. As for the Wi-Fi part of it.. Well.. I feel as though the slower processor may have something to do with that.. As well as the fact they probably have a slightly less power hungry Wi-Fi setup that may go slower.. I've used my h5555 and my wife's 4155 over Wi-Fi and they are both better than mine.. But that's what you get when you start trying to get extended battery time.. I think the trade off is worth it..
Things that will cause it to hang and drop on a GPRS send/receive would be if you are driving in your car.. GPRS is not like a modem on a computer where a computer modem will stay connected till you tell it to disconnect.. There is a lot of reasons GPRS would drop and I beileve that would be the reason for the receive issues you explained..
I'm trying to stay on top of my rep in the wireless data group.. I know he wishes he didn't answer my call that day..

T-MO, HELP ME LOVE THIS DEVICE!!
I've been toying with Windows CE since it's first incarnation and have owned almost every WinCE divice in each incarnation. I've been making my CE devices do things they were not able to do out of the box years before MS built these things in to each OS. Without knowing code I have been able to troubleshoot these devices for almost everyone I know. For the life of me I can't find where this little bug lies. I think I'm hitting a roadblock because I don't know code and things would make more sense to me, less trial and error. If there's anyone here who knows about the PPC registry and will talk to me I will go through and find the keys that are diff on my PPCPE and the 6315. In theory we should just be able to find the x/o of the GPRS out. Or overwrite a few keys with ones that work from the other T-Mo OS and problem solved. If we find it I will send it to T-Mo level 3 they should be able to make an OTA (over the air) reg update to fix the problem. I'd experiment but don’t know enough to do it without potentially F#@$%'g up the Mail Trigger functions in the registry. So I'll to the labor if someone can walk through with me who knows what each one means and I'll trouble shoot. I noticed a few things. One you can only download file links online of specific type (i.e. word, pdf, etc..). Try to download a whatever.wma file and it pretends but only gets 157b file that is not the full download. Use NetFront and it gts the full file. I never had this problem on my old PPCPE. Also mail w/Attachment or larger than a few bits over GPRS no go either. Via PC passthrough & Wifi works ok. I think just taking a stab at it; It has something to do with the MMS registry settings. I think T-mobile made some changes so that even though the AIM client connects to GPRS it sends via SMS. Also MMS sends as MMS even though its going over GPRS. Its a billing thing not a device thing,..I'm just guessing. It should be easy to fix. But need a little help....anyone,....Bueller?...Bueller?
PM me.
Try MSN on the 6315, will not connect using GPRS, but will with Wifi and Activesync.
We use Infowave's Symmetry Pro as our corp. mail access server, receiving is fine, sending mail does not work using GPRS, and yes ;-) using wifi or activesync all is good.
Something is funky with whatever HP/Tmobile cooked up around the GPRS settings,
If anybody has a solution or answer from HP/T-mobile, please let us know!
