The Real Lg Chocolate Hacking Thread

The reason behind the re-make thread is because most people seems to use it to bash LG whether than use it for the original purpose (HACK / REVIEW)

So unless you have the phone and play around with it.

STOP BASHING THE PRODUCT, YOU"RE WELCOME TO OPEN UP A THREAD ABOUT HOW BAD LG IS AND MAKE YOUR COMMENTS LOUD AND CLEAR. THIS IS FOR HACK AND REVIEW ONLY!!

You can make your own wallpaper for your phone using the computer method. Select any picture or even GIF's that you want. Re-size to 280x320 pixels, the format that work best is to save it as JPEG (for pictures) and GIF's (for graphic animations)

Since I've the micro SD card. I'll explain using this method...

After fixing with the correct size, save it to the card under the directory of my picture (Yes the card has to be formatted first using the phone). After saving it to the card. Turn on your phone and select menu -> music & media -> my albums and open my picture.

You will see your files there, select the one that you want, hit option... it'll ask if you want to copy or move (I use copy) hit copy and it'll be save to the phone.

Next you will goto settings -> display -> wallpaper and if everything goes well , you'll see alot of pictures including your own. Select it hit option and goto set as, you'll see photo ID or wallpaper. Select wallpaper and see you new wallpaper. Make sure you hit "set" to activate. The preview shows your pictures a little smaller. Don't worry, once you hit set and go out back to the standby mode. Your pictures or GIFs will fit perfect. Enjoy

Well I would like to know how to shut the screen off while playing MP3. This would GREATLY improve the battery life.

I don't think you can or ever will be able to. You can't on the a950 or the 8100 so I doubt you will be able to on the chocolate.

Ummm, the only way to change the UI would be to flash it with different firmware. If you flash it with different firmware I doubt it will connect to the Telus network.

What greeniguana_01 mean is that if you flash the UI theme not the firmware on the phone itself. The other member mis-understood and said it work on the Nokia, Just like a computer... using different software programs you can change the UI to what ever style that you want and it will not danger your OS one bit.

Review of LG chocolate
I bought the phone saturday as a replacement for my motorola v710.

So far i have been very impressed with the phone, although the reception is not as good as my v710 was. The mp3 player works great although the backlight does not seem to go off(only dims) and it definitely drains the batteries. The bluetooth headset that is included in the package works great for talking and listening to music. I would definitely recommend that you buy the gift pack with the headset and 1gb card. Some people seem to be complaining about using the touch sensitive buttons on the front, but they are actually really easy to use once you get the hang of it. Also the front buttons are locked when the phone is closed so there is no chance of accidentally dialing calls when the phone is in your pocket. I cannot really comment on the battery life of the phone as i have only had it a few days, but it does not seem to need charging anymore often than my v710 did. The camera takes very good pictures (i am comparing it to the v710), and even takes resonable pictures in darker settings as long as you turn the night setting on.

Four days after, I still love this phone and can't stop playing around with it. Not to mention it looks gorgeous. A lot of people still complain about the touch buttons issue. Here's the deal:

1) When you place a call with the phone, after when you hit the send key "those touch buttons de-activate automatically. Which means there is no way you would navigate those button with your cheek press against it.

2) When you receive an incoming call "YOU DON'T HAVE TO SLIDE THE PHONE OPEN TO ANSWER A CALL" Press the microphone button on the left side of the phone...That's the third button after the toggle up, down keys. Press the microphone button twice and those touch button well activate "tap the send key" and you can answer the call. Because it will only be on for 3 seconds, again there is NO WAY YOU WILL ACTIVATE THOSE TOUCH BUTTONS. After finish with you call, just press the end key on the other side of the phone and you're done.

I will borrow someone's review from another forum that claims 90% are USER ERRORS and I never agree with it but after seeing so many complains about this and since I have the phone and playing around with it for a little while. THERE IS NO NOUBT THAT THIS PERSON'S RIGHT.

Really try to understand the phone's full functions before you jump to conclusion and cry /complain about the phone.

I have made a mistake with the above post. After the copy option (Highlighted in blue). Just go back to my albums folder, open it and your pictures are there. Than follow the rest (Highlighted in red) and you got new wallpaper.

You can also upload your videos the same way. Change the format from your video to 3gp, switch the picture folder with the video folder and you're good to go. Download a problem called (super video encoder) to change your video format.

Next up RINGTONES or if someone know it already... Please share your knowledge.
