I'd like to give a big thumbs up to Ubixon for the Lubix NC1 stereo headset I received today.
Some others have mentioned these before, and thanks to you all for pointing the way! I bought a set of NC1s here, and thanks also to sohocrates for being very helpful:
Pairing: Initial charge took 2 hours, as expected. Paired to my HTC Wizard with no problem (Tmobile MDA w/ Xelencin's ROM).
Music: As discussed elsewhere, the highs are pretty distorted due to the MS BT stack, and the problem is very audible with WMP. Switched to Mortplayer, and used the equalizer to setp down the top five bands... sounds great, either on the 2nd (XOME) or 5th (MEX) effect settings. More bass available than I would want to use, and Volume goes to 11. I can get about 10 feet and one old-fashioned wall away before there is any kind of interruption, and even then they mostly work. Haven't figured out how to get AVRCP controls to work with Mortplayer yet.
Phone: Almost as good as my Nokia BH-800, at least inside. Haven;t tried outside yet.
Fit: The stock earpads are OK, I guess, but as mentioned by others, Jabra eargels are a perfect fit... it almost looks as if Ubixon designed with eargels in mind.
I love mine with the eargels. I also use the XOME equilizer setting on mine. I also really like talking with them because you hear the other party in both ears which makes the conversation seem more natural.
I was out and about with the Lubix all day today... couldn;t figure out how to consistently get the BT connection for music to work, which sort of sucked (vocie and MSVC seemed to work fine throughout).
So, I just installed the A2DP hack, and now music is playing thorugh fine. Is that the best solution? Any comments?
Also, it seems that Mortplayer, which *definitely* provides the best sound I;ve found so far, does not support AVRCP properly... anybody have suggestions on an alternate player that has an equalizer?
BTW, the Lubix is pretty dang good as your only BT phone (if you've got it on for music anyway)... just dangle the left earpiece, or leave it in a shirt pocket, and hold it up as a mike when needed!
Yeah, good call, rEVOLVE... I'm going to try Pocketmusic first (free), and see if it supports BT and AVRCP properly. I've used it before, and liked it.
Problem solved... I think I was forgetting to refresh and save Bluetooth device settings appropriately.
Also, problem solved re a player: Pocket Player it is!! For the moment, I am using the equalizer preset "Full Bass", which is doing a good job of minimizing any high-freq distortion. I'll mess around with the equalizer later to furher improve the sound.
Mucho thanks to Menneisys, who elsewhere pointed to a great article of his discussing AVRCP and other differences amongst some of the major music players, and included the following section on getting AVRCP working properly with Pocket Player:
Making the Pocket Player AVRCP work under WM5
(Big thanks to PPCT / AximSite forum member Haesslich for summarizing it so that I didn’t need to look / experiment with it up myself much.)
1. Get the Conduits WMP Plugin Adapter 1.1 from the plug-in page (I really recommend it if you, for example, want to get FLAC or MOD support for your Pocket Player) (direct link to the download).
2. Unzip gen_wmhost.dll from the archive and put it in the home directory of your installed application ([Storage card name]\Program Files\Conduits\Pocket Player).
3. Go to Menu/More/Options (in 3.0; in 2.8, Menu/Options) and select the Plugins tab (it’ll be on the far right)
4. Single-click “Conduits WM Plugin Adapter”, when the context menu comes up, select “Configure”.
5. Click the “Configure WM plugins to load” button.
6. Under version 2.8, it’ll ask four questions; under 3.0, two. Click “Yes” in all cases.
7. Click OK and restart Pocket Player. Now, remote controlling should work OK.
I am now officially rocking!!
(Note: Pocketmusic also worked for equalization and AVRCP, but it seemed a bit of a memory hog, and also choked on larger MP3s on my Wizard.)
I'm still having a problem getting music throught the headset; I can;t seem to figure out what is going on with the BT connection. Usually, I am at least getting voice audio to work, as well as the AVRCP controls... but no music!

What gives? Anybody have a good idea?
Yep they can be a pain to get going but there is a way.
Turn on device and Lubix, lubix will chime up. Start player, press play on Lubix. Now the you'll hear the lubix chime down, press play again, it'll chime down again, don't know if 2nd press is always needed but it works for me. Now open Comm manager/settings/BT/devices, hold Lubix BT Headset and select set as wireless, will hear chime up, go back to player and press play on Lubix, should work. If sound comes out of device speaker you'll have to back to com manager and set as wireless agin. I notice occasionally the music starts then goes really quite, just flick Lubix volume up and fixed.
Hope this works for you.
Thanks... I had sort of come to the same process, but without a defined series of steps. I've just been going back and forth between 1) Lubix on/off; 2) Lubix Play button; and 3) refresh Lubix WiFi settings in Comm Manager. It seems to work eventually, but I wish I understood how to just set it up right and have it always work.
Other than that and the friggin' MS BT stack distortion, I am still totally loving the NC1s.
I cut out holes in the center of the Jabra eargels, as shown in one of the Samsung WEP200 threads, which helped increase volume (but may have made high-band distortion more evident).
Thank the phone godz they've been working on this!!! I upgraded to a Tytn/Hermes this week, and the BT stack implementation is friggin' awful for music... not just the skipping, but the sound quality too. I'm just waiting a couple of days for the XDA guys to stabilize the Widcomm port a little bit.
On another note, as I've been poking around on various fora, I've noticed other mention of problems with consistent BT connections for A2DP... not just the Lubix, and not just HTC devices, but in general. In most cases, users complain that they have to refresh the "Wireless Stereo" profile every time they turn on BT after a reset. I'm hoping this is also something that the Widcomm stack will solve.

All in all, these things are pretty rocking.
I've had my Lubix NC1s about a week now and I love them. It's the first bt headset I've ever owned. The music sounds great. But I keep seeing you guys saying you're using the Jabra eargels to get a better fit. I bought some at the Verizon store and I can't figure out how to get them to fit. Maybe I got the wrong ones. Can you guys tell me exactly which ones fit the best. Thanks.
