How To: Free mobile wap on SCH-u740

Okay, so here it is the write up thanks to tmansgc.

Step 1: Go to the settings and tools menu and click ok, once in there press the # key. After that enter 6 zeros for the password. Once in that menu press 0 one more time and enter 0218243440. After that go down to the USERPREFS Editor option and change that from 0 to 1

Step 2: You can now exit out of that menu and go to the get it now menu and press #. Enter the last 4 digits of your phone (or if you have changed your password enter that)

Now enter the following things in their proper place:

PRIMARY DNS
HTTP PROXY PORT- 80
E2E PORT - 80
LXL PORT - 80
PRIMARY DNS - wap.google.com
PRIMARY IP
HTTP PROXY PORT - 80
E2E PORT - 80
LXL PORT - 80
PROXY ADRESS - 64.233.161.103

And there you go! go to the mobile browser and you will be directed to google's wap page. If anyone has any questions post them here. Thanks again to tmansgc.

Ok so I did the settings... I can get to google.com perfect. When I go to menu and then url I get an error instantly. So I clear out of the error and do a search on google.com for ebay.com.... it comes up with wap.ebay.com... I select that link and it reloads the original google.com webpage. What am I doing wrong?

Is it just ebay that is doing this?

I am in the process right now of trying to figure out an alternative for when you type in the url under the menu, or a way to fix it.

these aren't limitations of the phone, they are limitations of the free google wap proxy.

I just did a random search for howardforums and the link worked... so I guess it is just that first ebay.com link that is bad. Great work though... don't let it go un appreciated.

Yes it will cost airtime, because it uses data to recieve all of the pages. However it is free night and weekends So you're good for today.

Oh that's right, wee. Where can I find the specifics on the nights and weekends as far as when they kick in and all the details that I'm sure people get screwed over with all the time? I'm new to Verizon.

Great job guys!

Good find and quick education of the manipulation situation .

In the USERPREFS I saw areas that URLs can be changed. I don't remember and I will be looking after I post this but maybe we can get some additional use of the browser functions
