Smart2go Vs TomTom6 (Australia)
yes another post by me...
....i promise ill stop wasting your time soon
anyway N73(you might know by now) and i live in Sydney, Australia
i tried the Smart2Go, and after a few tries i got it working as a street map( i dont have gps yet) but i find that its horrible. The suburbs are wrong, no postcodes, and generally i cant even find the street on the search function that is directly shown on my screen.
so anyway, how is the TomTom? i
will be using this as a street directory mainly (no gps) is it any good?

Some people have difficulties installing TomTom but once you get past that, there's no question that it's the best nav solution available for S60 3rd IMO. I use it in the US (never as a street directory) and it hasn't steered me wrong yet. Huge POI database, great graphics and maps, good set of options, integrated traffic for premium users... It's the best.

I haven't used Smart2Go, but I did use TomTom 6 while I was in Oz.
TT worked (almost) without flaw while I was in Sydney, Cairns, and Port Douglas. It even worked while I was in the air going at over 500+ miles per hour.
I saw "almost" without flaw because there were some multipath issues when I traveling in the Sydney CBD; satellite signals bouncing off of tall buildings and driving through tunnels wrecked havoc on the routing instructions. That's why it's always important to have "old school" navigation instruments, like a map and/or knowledgable navigator.
BTW, was even helpful while I was at Uluru! If it can route me while I'm in the middle of nowhere, it gets my two thumbs up!
