HOW TO: Process 2 flash Verizon phone with VIVO Monster Firmware...REV1
Ok, its been asked for, and I didn't have time to write one... I know others were working on this, but I didn't see it yet, and I some spare time.. so...
It definately needs some clean up, formatting, etc...
and it uses the ALLTEL system files, so its not perfect, and doesn't give the Vivo mp3 app...
I did this on my Verizon V3Cpp using the VIVO V3M Monster firmware. and it works.
I tried doing it keeping the phone powered OFF while restoring... That did not work, because after flash, even while powered off, the phone shows as USB MASS STORAGE Device. So I used the process as written.
But in theory, since doing *22899 works without corrupting data, and Vivo uses the SAME M.IP profile Verizon does, your HA/AAA keys should be re-created properly.
I've run through this 3 times.. and its worked EACH TIME...
So, its time for others to try it.

Way to go!
So getting the Mp3 app to work, is that just a matter of backing it up and manually restoring selected files before restoring?

Kernelpanic made a modified mma_ucp file that allows the mp3 player app to show up under the media area. Only down side, it replaces the camera icon (not the video recorder icon), but the camera can be launched by the camera button on the key pad (or the side button if closed) still, so not a big deal. Here is the link to the thread that contains the file from kernelpanic: Click Here . Now, you have to do one other thing to files using p2kcommander. You need to rename 3 files in the motorola directory. Click Here and look towards the bottom in the area called "Progress Report". What this does is renames the 3 files used for the browser. The only thing I hated was how small the browser icon looked without it being selected. Not really a big deal, but... Anyways, hope this helps.
Following what luiset83 indicated for k1m - you should restore ha/aaa, 10.key, & mip prior to allowing phone to start the first time so as not to mess up data...
I was able to do that once, but I needed to pull batt/cord after flashing as it tries to automatically restart... then after restoring several items including those, I restarted phone and went to airplane mode. At that point I did not do master clear / master reset because I did not know if that would just erase what I had restored and screw data up… Your NOTE that you added in the beginning makes it seem like you can restore most everything without powering on phone…but I could not because pst wants you to be in suspend mode…
Do you have any thoughts on best way to do that and if clear/reset can be skipped without injecting new issues…?
It seems like most k1m flash issues (atleast at first) seem to be data related. If it could be nailed down abit more, it might save some posts… whatever that “process” becomes will probably be the same for newest models (maxx) etc… when/if flash is leaked – as k1m represents newer locked file system…
Step 4 comment:
Clr 0 2 6 “pressed quickly” brings up language menu. I have not tested with that firmware...but if it works you could add that. Only save a couple of key strokes... but every bit helps.
I'm a little confused about the restoring the keys, isn't this done anyways when you do a *228 option 1? And since vivo has the M.IP profiles unlocked by default it should work, no?

I have flashed VIVO twice now. The second time was to clear up a problem with MMS. ON the second flash, I didn't restore keys. I just use the *228.
I did wind up have to use the ESN on line number changer to switch ESN then switch back to restore GIN and Browser but everthing works. So, I think you can skip restoring the keys... although you may have to use the ESN changer like I did.
You will have to restore the 10key though. (I think.)

Mark, you should update the V3m system files with the ones used by kenalpanic. The have a link to the VIVO mp3 player. It takes place of the one to the camera but you can still use the camera by pressing the camera button on the keypad.

its the MMA_UCP... BUT I have like 4 of them that I have not gone through yet to figure which is which...
basically for now.. use what the guide has.. when I update it with the correctly edited MMA_UCP then just drop those on, your menu's will change, and you'll have what you need.
can anyone who has flashed answer these 2 questions?
is there a 100 text message limit like the alltel firmware has?
is the text message ringtone the same tone as a ringtone set for a contact in your phonebook, or does it play the default text message sound? (The alltel always just plays whatever you set for the contact in ringer ID, it ignores the default tone if you have a specific tone set)

As for K1M.. I don't have one... BUT i can say this...
I know luiset83's suggesting do things with the phone powered off after flash was because how the MIP, HA/AAA keys were handled differently in the alltel firmware which posed potential problems for the Alltel
and the V3M and K1M were identicle in this respect.
This does NOT appear to be the case with Vivo V3M firmware... *22899 properly... so in theory, it should also hold true for the K1m Vivo firmware..... BUT as I do NOT have a K1M phone, I can't try to know for sure.

Define step four... Until I re-number stuff... Please quote the text...
Do you mean to switch to english? I just navigated the menus. I try and avoid the "press quickly" as too many people do it too slow and think they are "quick"
Mark, I hate to threadjack, but as there's not a lot of posts, this might get your attention sooner. I'm sending you a PM about a KRZR phone - keep an eye out, if you could, for a PM from me that doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled VIVO monster thread

I noticed that two of the file names were mixed up. I think its the second and the third. if you switch those the icon is a little bigger. i dont remember for sure but you could check and let us know. thanks for the info

I've modified the Kernelpanic modified mma_ucp so that the browser icons return without having to rename any files; the fix to rename the files was incorrect, anyway. Now, if I can figure out how to attach the file...
