HOW TO: using the Telus K1M/L7C upgrade on a Verizon K1M/L7c phone
bushe was kind enough to take the time and write up a guide (based on the various monster guides) to getting the Telus Java enabled K1M/L7C upgrade firmware working on the Verizon K1M/L7C phone...
Because this firmware is Java enabled, you can't make use of Get-it-Now or any BREW apps... BUT you can load FREE Java apps on your phone.
Based on the info he sent me, everything is working except of course BREW/GIN.
NOTE: This will only work on the K1M/L7C as there has been no leak of Telus firmware for other phones yet.

I have everthing(EVDO,java, vzw proxy, mms, obex OPP,Obex DUN) working on my phone as well and I believe much can be removed/refined in this guide. I may even take a shot at it when I have a chance to sit down and do it all again while documenting the process. What do you think about a batch file that writes a custom NVM table for your phone? BTW there is one for MMS fixes on the bell e815 fw the zip you download with my ampd->bell tutorial, I just never told anyone about it.
Has anyone isolated the bit(s) in 275a that allow the mip and keys to be rewritten? This eliminates the need for loading keys and possibly even service programming. What about the bit(s) in that ampd 2742 seem that make MMS work?

Wap with VZW's Proxy? Hmm.. cool.. I just got a PM that it was something that wasn't working after using this guide.. and that a Free Proxy was needed...
I'm sure a few things could probably be stripped out of each of the guides to make them more stream lined... however once its a working process, most (including me ) are not willing to invest the additional time it takes to try stripping it down, and re-confirming the new way works...

Anything that helps streamline and make it easier.

Two things could have led to this conclusion:
launching openwave from the SPARK menu doesn't use the homepage set in the websession it tries to load some telus page. comes up with an error 500 for me. navigating from there or launching the broswer from the web sessions menu works fine though.
Also as with bell the java apps seem to require an unauthenticated proxy.

Almost .. I will have to make a couple changes. I used it and edited the resulting nvm file.

I think I may have been the only one to notice that you posted that you had EVERYTHING working on the Telus K1m, which I thought to be rather momentous news.
I did try the modified 275a seem in my Bell e815 to no avail unfortunately.
I also did some analysis of the bits and tried various edited versions.
There is simply more to it than we are seeing.
The Java apps all require unauthenticated proxies because they don't have access the the internal authentication protocols of the phone due to the very limited JSRs(APIs) that are present in the JVM platform that we have.

I don't think I was the first... I may have been the first to test tethering .... But others like bushe also have everything working and really did most of the work to figuring it out.
Didn't mean to slight Bushe or negate his contributions at all. He has been fairly quietly tackling a lot of cool stuff lately.
I just hadn't seen anyone else mention DUN and it's a pretty major accomplishment
I am currently on vacation so I just wanted to get what I had out so you guys could make some more progress. I have tried tethering with the google proxy and it worked and since I dont use it I stopped there and after reading the post from evade I tried the VZW proxy and it does work after going to another page besides the homepage. I will be following you guys for the week but I wont be able to do any testing and I probably wont be posting unless anything is asked of me specifically.
Goodluck Guys hope you work everything out.
PS You can also use the 2742 VIVO seem to get MMS working, it seems work a little better with less Items disabled.
