Did they actually ship it the date you ordered it or did they wait until the actual release date to ship it? Just because you can order it, doesn't mean they will ship it even if they say two day delivery.
They actually shipped it the next day (before the release). I was actually on a trip with the phone in my hands when it was released, which I was very happy about since I used it extensively on the trip. So it can happen, you just have to get the right rep.
Is that just aGPS though or has anyone confirmed that it is full unassisted GPS? (It would be realy cool if it is unassisted GPS)
It was confirmed that the chip set can do true GPS, and there may be an antenna for it.
But I have my doubts that VZW will ever turn it on.
I wouldn't whine if it never happens.
even if they don't turn it on, can't csomeone hack it!

I would be willing to PAY for a hack to turn the GPS on, maybe like $25-50 something like that. I'm sure most others would as well, I hope someone gets on this!

I think you're playing with fire. Your temporary ban may lose the temporary part, if you don't watch yourself.
Is it possible to just order the phone from HTC? That way you wouldn't have to worry about crappy Verizon addons. I looked on the website and couldn't find it. Anyone have any ideas?

No, They just make the phone, it has to be imported by UTStarcom, then Verizon gets it, Then you have to wait for Verizon to release.

Try Newegg.com...also I thought it could take up to 8gb?

1) HTC does not sell direct to consumers
2) Verizon would not accept the ESN if you could get one anyway
3) There should be a few nice 3rd party options to eliminate VZW lameness. This is a Windows Mobile phone, not something they can force their own OS onto.
And depending on WinMo6 compatbility, the SDHC standard itself is designed to work with capacities up to 2TB...which within the practical lifetime of this phone could easily mean 32GB memory cards (again, if WinMo6 supports it, not sure on the specifics there). For now, the 8GB cards are just starting to trickle out.
