Maybe you have no idea, but are they just going to release that gold color first, and then down the road release the blue? I would prefer the blue, but if they go the U740 route it looks like gold might be the first one out. Just curious if I should be ready to pick this up or not.

i was looking to see if the LG I want (the steel one) has come down on my NE2 price. They are charging me $79.99 for it, but I will wait til the next edition phones come online to lower its price.
Then I saw the Gleam nd it looks nice. Gonna have to check it out at the store. they have it for $49 for the NE2 price.
Apprently, it's not eligible for the Premium calling plan, as the phone has no mobile email capabilities. I was told that I'd have to buy the Basic or Select plans, then add on Navigator and Vpack ala carte. This would end up costing me more then if I could just get the Premium plan.
Needless to say, I'm pretty frustrated with Verizon right now. Why bother releasing a brand-new, high(ish) end phone that is not compatible with all the features of your high-tier plan? Makes no sense, and I am seriously considering taking a strong look at another carrier.
So, is there any idea on when the blue version will be available? How long does Verizon usually take between releasing another version - weeks or months?
I need a new phone and I don't know if it's worth waiting for the blue u700 or if I should just get the u620.

If you are considering getting the u620, then you should definitely take a look at the Moto RIZR z6tv that came out today.

I feel you on that one. This same thing happened to me when I was thinking of getting the new LG vx8350. It wasn't compatible with the Premium Plan that I was on so I ended up not getting it. Like you said, I think it's really dumb of Verizon to release these new phones and not have them compatible with their high ends plans (that I assume they WANT to push) right off the bat. I don't see why they can't just let you have any phone on the Premium Plan regardless of certain features not being available right away, and then make the features available as they are released for each phone. I mean, I think most could live without mobile e-mail for a few weeks until it worked with the newest phones, and I would rather just pay for the Premium Plan and be able to have those other features while I waited.
In any event, how did you like the phone when you played with it in the store? Did they only have the gold combo, or did they also have the blue?

They only had the gold right now. The phone seemed pretty nice overall, felt good and sturdy in my hand, nice displays and animation, etc. It did seem to be kinda prone to fingerprints/smudging, etc. YOu have to remove the back cover to get at the micro sd slot, which was a bit of a drawback for me.
FWIW, I ended up going back and getting the Motorola v6TV. Not sure I want a slider and it too looks to be pretty much a fingerprint magnet but other then that, it's got pretty much what I wanted and does work with the Premium plan. Probably the wrong forum for this, so I'll stop here...
