I just mentioned in another thread that this new mini doesn't configure things very well on my E90. The beta works great,no problem. Anybody else having any problems with it?

Yea, wap.howardforums.com doesn't seem to work properly. Everytime I go on hofo it asks me to reparse as HTML. And I can only go on the wap site with Opera as the N95-3 browser just keeps loading the full site even if I type in the wap site.
All of this worked fine when I was still using the beta.

Opera Mini's full page view looks like a steaming pile of horse dung compared to the Webkit based browsers (iPhone Safari/Nokia Web).

I only use it for browsing really memory heavy sites. Funny thing is it loads iphone.facebook.com better than Web.

same here spirals. i only use it for certain sites, even a few that Web can't load. like www.pmanet.org

does anyone else have a problem loading that site with the built-in browser.

other that that and a view other sites, i enjoy using the built in browser much better than opera mini. now don't get me wrong, opera mini is a great piece of free software.

Yes, but you can always change the picture quality to Medium or even High (it is Low by default; hence the seemingly bad quality).

Nope, it's only one of the reasons. The HTML (the text + markup) itself is also heavily compressed and sent over , compared to HTTP, more bandwidth effective direct socket connections. This is why there may be even an order of magnitude in the difference of the download speed between Opera Mini and, say, Nokia Web; particularly over slow connections like GPRS.

^what i have noticed is that using opera via gprs has much more benefit over nokia web, whereas using the two on wifi -- nokia web seems to be faster.

i used to be heavily addicted to opera mini 4 beta 2, and even installed this recent version. but since i always have 3g signal i found that i rely 100% on the s60 browser. i know how good opera is, but i just love the s60 browser now that i've used it a lot.

opera goes through a proxy to compress it, so possibly on wifi there isn't much benefit since its so fast and in fact it increases latency.

I'm talking about "text" quality in full page view. In Webkit-based browsers the the page is zoomed out proportionally so the big headline texts are readable. In Opera Mini text is forced to the same size then in full page view every line is just a row of pixels.
