You must use P2kCommander. I originally tried BitPim and QPST and they wouldn't show up on the phone. The ONLY thing BitPim can do is overwrite existing skins.
So far, the skins I have working are Moto, Techno and Indium. The problem you may notice is the "CLI" files which control the external screen skins. Using the CLI files from ANY phone other than the V9/V9m will create problems. At first I used a skins from the MAXX V6 and the RAZR V3xx and the inside was fine, but the CLI files were meant for the smaller screen and caused the status icons and touch buttons to disappear. If you want a skin but don't have the properly sized CLI files, you can just skip them, and the external screen will revert to the CLI skin files from Alkali. You can also mix and match CLI files from Alkali, Glow, Disco, or Indium to use any those for the outside screen on added skins.
Anytime you see CLI, know that that file is for the external screen.

Can you post me a link with those 3 skins Moto, Techno and Indium that work on the V9m please.
Thanks

Please note that only Indium and Plush skins are ones that have matching CLI files included that alter the look of the external screen. Techno and Moto were designed for the RAZR V3x and therefore will only change the skin on the internal screen, while the external screen will use the Alkali skin or the Indium skin. The Techno skin and Indium skin are very similar so using that combo should work well. Skinner4Moto may have to be used to create matching CLI files for the skins that don't have them already. Please report any problems with these skins and I will try to fix them.
Also note that it appears you can use any complete set of CLI files with any of the NON CLI (internal skin) files to create any internal/external combo you want. As I said though, if you find a skin file from the MAXX or V3xx, DO NOT use the accompanying CLI files as they will make the status icons and touch buttons disappear. Using any of the NON CLI skin files created for a QVGA Moto should work for the internal screen.

About 10 minutes worth of Google searching which led me to GSM forums with filesystem dumps from the V3x, V3xx, V6, and V9. In case anyone is wondering, YES, both the new GSM and CDMA Motorolas with QVGA screens use the same fonts so they SHOULD work on the V9m, at least the internal skin files. Make sure you use skins for 240 X 320 resolution ONLY, as other skins will not show up properly. I've had mixed success using the Skinner4Moto CLI version to create my own external skins, and so that might be a fun challenge for those who want the skin on the front screen to match the internal.
I found this REALLY cool iPhone skin, it LOOKS exactly like the iphone and it has the icons and everything. i am SOOOO happy i flashed my phone... except for the MMS not working
I am wondering when you say they SHOULD work on CDMA. I opened some of these skins and tried the MotoSkin.exe program and also saw the problems you had skinning your Maxx. It is not so easy as creating a new skin folder on a CDMA phone, is it?
Also, the USCC flash has only Alkali, Disco and Glow skins

I know for a fact, Indium, Moto, and Techno work, but have not tested Plush. I have screenshots showing what they do on the USCC V9m. All you need to do is:
1. Open P2kCommander 4.9D or higher, and navigate to skins.
2. Create a new folder matching the name for the skin you want to add.
3. Manually add each skin file.
Like I said, I saw no complications ON THE INTERNAL SCREEN. I deleted the original CLI files from the Moto and Techno skin because they were from the V3x and caused major problems with the V9m. However, using the attached skins should work fine as I tested them myself.
BTW, my Skinner4Moto CLI has mixed results with the V9m skins as well. I thought it would work because it would show me the image files, however, when you try to recompile the CLI, it doesn't give me the 1CLI, 2CLI, 3CLI files needed to work on the V9m. I found the skinner4moto CLI program on ModMyMoto.com for those curious.

Sorry if I missed your post with the screenshots of the V9m; I saw the Maxx posts. Where is it? And can you be more specific on how the skinning programs have been used with success on the V9m phones?
if you goto mobile9.com they have a bunch of really cool skins that change the icons and everything, also to add teh skin (from mobile9.com) all you have to do is double click the P2K commander file in the zip folder.
