VOYAGER Software Update VX10KV05 and "How To" Guide

****UPDATE BY FAUGUY & MARK_VENTURE****

PLEASE SEE THIS PAGE ON HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR VOYAGER TO SOFTWARE VERSION 05
http://mark.cdmaforums.com/VX10K-Flash.htm

ALSO, READ THORUGH THIS THREAD TO MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE FULL PROCESS OF FLASHING YOUR OWN PHONE.

-----------------------------------------------------

Hopefully this hasn't been posted. I looked and didn't see anything, and searched and came up with nothing. I was over on PhoneScoop and someone posted that a new software update was released for the Voyager today. Current version VX10KV03 and they say the new version is VX10KV05.

Here is the list of things it fixes:

-- Fixed issue with V CAST Music and 4GB+ removable memory read error
-- Adds ability to reset V CAST Mobile TV client
-- Update power settings to improve battery life performance
-- Bluetooth enhancements to audio, pairing, and key tone
-- Mobile Web - HTML browser enhancements
-- Fixed to display ‘=’ symbol on the bottom in the calculator for LG Joy font
-- Fixed to access to keypad through only one step while in a call
-- Fixed the auto lock setting so that the touch screen will not lock on its own when auto lock is set to off
-- Fixed to allow ESPN application on external touch screen
-- Fixed to allow Mobile IM on external touch screen
-- Fixed to have no difference between the displayed image (to let you know which scene was taken) and the actual saved image, when you take a picture aiming at any moving objects
-- Fixed when device goes to maps.google.com, the device resets

The user that posted this info said he already had his phone flashed, and I called my local store and they confirmed that this update was just released. Their computer was having some issues so I wasn't able to get mine flashed today, but I am going to take mine in tomorrow. I thought some of these were very useful fixes (and some I am very excited about!) so I wanted to post in case people hadn't heard about it yet.

I had it done and there is a big bug where when you try to access the browser from the touch screen the phone resets. It only works when the flip is opened.

Do you need to get it flashed or will it be pushed OTA?

You noticed this bug before, or after the update? And do you live in NY?

Wow, so although the updates seem great, it causes that issue too.

Oh that stinks about the bug! Do most of you guys think you'll wait to update until they fix this "new" bug, or will you go ahead and take a chance?

I'm going to update right away mainly because I have other issues with the browser and am hoping the new software will fix it. I've heard that certain google websites made the phone reset pre-update, can anyone confirm this fix? I think I heard that maps.google.com did it, I personally am having problems with a gmail link, that's why I'm asking.

In reference to the update allowing Mobile IM on the external touch screen. I have the older firmware and have not had any problems using Mobile IM on the external touch screen.

What I am interested in is; anyone who has the update, is the browser any faster?

Not a big deal, but Verizon should update the video player to allow full screen playback.

Checked with the original poster on PhoneScoop and while I haven't heard back from him, another poster (someone who also updated their phone) said they are not having this problem that you are having. Were you having that problem before the update as well? Maybe (hopefully) it's just an isolated incident.

As others update maybe they can post and confirm if this is happening to their phones as well.

Had mine updated last night. I like the new browser. Now, for what I noticed right off the bat and I even had a buddy of mine confirm it. The scrolling through the contacts was very very good, in fact, it was fast and accurate, no hiccups. More to follow as I messs with it.

Take it to your local VZW store and have them flash it with the new update.

When they flash to the update, what chance is there that your personal content/settings are lost?
Also, how long does it take, since I am going to a VW store this Friday?

Should we turn off any hacks before taking it in? Or will they not notice or even care?
