What is Fido UNO?
Fido UNO enables you to make unlimited local calls through a wireless (WiFi) internet connection. You must have a Fido UNO enabled handset, two are launching - information is below. It will work on both the GSM & WiFi network (when available)
When can I get Fido UNO?
Soft launch: April 2
Commercial launch: May 6
Fido UNO Options & Pricing
- $15 for unlimited local calling from home
- $20 for unlimited local and Canadian long-distance calling from home
When making long-distance or international calls from home with the Fido UNO service, customers subscribing to the $15 option will be charged as per usual Fido rates.
$20 option subscribers will benefit from reduced long-distance rates
- $0.10/per minute for US long distance calls (billed by the second, 30 second minimum)
- Up to 70% off on International long-distance (same rates as with the $4 International long-distance calls options)
Couples Accounts
- One Fido Uno option can be added for each subscriber in the account, up to a maximum of 5 subscribers.
- Each secondary Fido UNO subscriber will receive a $5 monthly credit on their invoice for as long as they keep the Fido UNO option, regardless to which 2 options they subscribe to.
- All subscribers in the account need to subscribe to the same Fido UNO option (no mix and match)

Motorola Z6W - (Launch: End of May)
Retail: $375
2-Year: $150
3-Year: $100
(Note: Both are GSM/Edge but neither model is 3G)

(If you subscribe to the $20 Fido UNO option while roaming in Canada and are placing calls on the Fido UNO network will never be billed long-distance since Unlimited Canadian long-distance minutes are included)

so UNO is a VOIP service that will only be open to fido handsets, or can we use unlocked handsets that support WiFi service if we can find the UNO app?

the service works great right now. no billing issue, no sound issue no connection issue, nothing exept great service. and for 15$ it's not bad at all, people will be able to lower down their plan to a minimum and since almost everybody has a wifi network these days, it's a keeper.
I'm not using one of these 2 handsets, but the 6301 will works great I'm sure and the Z6W should also.
Can't say about unlocked phone..they probably will need a fido software for this service....

I believe this service allows a seamless transition between GSM and VOIP, meaning when your in your wifi coverage for UNO or something it automatically switches from GSM to WIFI and vice versa. Whereas a VOIP service you need to connect to? I am assuming. Also I haven't found a completely free VOIP service, maybe the app is free but finding a SIP provider for free is tough, forget SKYPE, not the same.
are there any details as to the coverage of the UNO network?
with my skypepro for mobile, I pay 3$/month for unlimited calling to and from US and Canada and receiving, all on my phone when Im in a wifi spot. So id love to compare the UNO network and its coverage and why its worth $20 per month (quite a bit more). Im sure there are advantages but is it really worth that higher monthly fee? hmmmmm.... need more details, thanks for the updates!!

Does "from home" mean when you're connected to a wifi spot from your phone?
Or literally only when you are connected to your wifi from your home?
I'm new to the UNO/VOIP world.
And let's say I'm making a call "at home" via UNO...and I lose that connection and/or step out of the range and it switches to GSM mode...will I be charged by minute now since I'm not in my UNO range, or is it still unlimited local calling?

When you fill in your details, make sure they are correct and you give them a correct telephone number where you can be reached because they will call you to check you are who you say you are or cancel the service.
Its run by worldline.ca so I expect it to be around for a while.

I looked at the website. I'm kinda confused though. Can you use this on a WiFi cell phone? I never found the WiFi on my E61 to be very stable. So I don't know how useful it'd be to me.
And how can it all be free? What's the catch? How do they make money?
