My BB 8100 OS 4.5 mini review

I have only had 4.5 (4.5.0.18) for a couple of days, but so far I am really liking it.

The highlight for me is the added Calendar functionality. Also auto-complete and spell check are handy.

Other people using 4.5 have reported memory leaks, but mine has stayed at 16MB the whole time

Check out the 3 icons in the bottom left. You can now create your own folders as needed.

Inside the games folder

New incoming call screen

Call Log. (it didn't used to be colour coded, by call type like this did it? I don't know, something looks different)

Alarm. I don't think the weekday option used to be there.

Contact Screen

From the contact could you always view on Google Maps? (ya I guess you probably could)

The WAP browser now has a mouse pointer, but for some reason it doesn't show up on the screenshots

Media app main screen. Notice you can now save voice notes, not just send them.

Pictures. You can now set the number of icons on each row.

Some pics of the music app

Messages list

For some reason all SMS's are coming up as Reply requested now

Auto-complete

Spell Check

BT Options

Calendar

New option to "Send Using" when creating a appt.

Appts are now colour coded based on what "Send Using" Email account you selected.

Like I said overall I am really liking it. Any Q's let my know...

Ya I am not trying to hide anything. If I was I wouldn't have posted all those screenshots with my personal info.

There is tons of pics all over the net, I don't think RIM cares. If they do they can ask me to remove them and I will.

Yeah Ive been using it for about 2 days now. Its nice and all but it has its flaws

Heres what Im having problems with. In desktop manager I cant do a backup/restore of my application settings and etc (it just freezes at that screen, never transfers). Could be because of the compatiability of the Desktop software to 4.5OS. Next my free memory went from 22MBS with 4.2.1 OS to 6MB's with the 4.5OS. Whats new that takes up 16MBs? Its so frustrating since I lost all my application permissions since it wont sync (example my Jivetalk screennames are gone, I have to reregister Empower EMV Pro, Jivetalk, and etc). Some apps dont work, kinda expected as they aren't 4.5 compatible yet.

It is still beta, RIM has not released it to the public yet.

And just in case you don't know, just asking where to download beta ROMs from will get you banned, so be careful.

I really like the new contact screen, the colour coded send email using feature in the appt is very useful too for sorting out work/personal calendars

I have always had the Weekday Only feature on my Curve, I use it all the time.

Thanks for the pics, I can't wait!
