Exclamation Sprint to no longer offer unlimited data - NOW HAS A CAP of 5GB/month!

Will they enforce it or not... we will find out. They also mentioned in another e-mail that they will be enforcing the 800min per month roaming rule; and termination letters are being sent out. You can leave ETF free!

It seems as though this is only applying to PAM and Data Card plans - and not to Vision/PowerVision Pacakges (that is how it seems...). From the memos we got - but we could be interpreting it incorrectly.

And they are changing the Terms of Service which will be affective July 13th. So that is another way to easily get out of contract. Just beware AT&T and Verizon also have data caps (the same or less usage than Sprint).

All I can say is... interesting - now they will loose more customers!

Sprint: $40 for unlimited talk/text/picmail/data/BIS/Nav (one line) -- T-Mobile: 2500 Nationwide FamilyTalk Plan (2 lines) for $99.99. I also have $9.99 Unlimited Family Messaging US/Canada, $4.99 Unlimited Internet, three add-a-lines at $9.99 a piece, and $2.00 Family Allowances Program. That comes out to... $146.94 (before taxes & 12% Corp Disc). Plus unlimited MyFaves, unlimited Hotspot@Home calls, unlimited 9PM N/Ws, unlimited M2M, and 500 CF Mins included on all lines at no extra cost.

LOSE!

Anyway, if true, this would be a very bad move on Sprint's part.

why would they lose more customers? VZW and ATT already do it, so its not better to leave and pay more for the same cap.

And the 50% of your min roaming was always there for quite a while now. Im sure the 800 set number is there for unlim plan people who figured they didnt have a 50% of their min mark to hit. if your roaming more than 800 min id have to agree with sprint youre with the wrong carrier.

It doesnt effect me at all i barely use 300mb/month but i bet the Sprint fanboys who touted the "no cap" as justification to why sprint was the "best" will be pissed now...

Does Sprint disclose data card usage? I have been using U727 for 3 months but the usage information always unavailable on the web site.

Unfortunately, this is true.

Edit: I wonder if they are going to change the name of the aircard plan from Unlimited to 5GB like Verizon?!?

It should be there. I just checked the minutes, texts and data usage for all of my phones and my aircard.

The Sprint website showed my EX720 aircard at 1461324 kilobytes.

So if someone really wanted to get out of their contract for this, would it be ETF free, or would they have to return their phone?

Bandwidth is a finite resource, people. SPCS is merely exercising effective resource management.

If you are so up in arms over a fairly liberal 5 GB data cap, then that is indication that you are using too much SPCS EV-DO data.

We should start a "tower" jar on PayPal. Anyone on HoFo who calls a "cell site" a "tower" has to pay Howard a nickel.

my sentiment exactly, i dont feel bad for anyone. there are plenty of good services for high-speed unlim internet services for your home that is not tethering huge amounts of data.

Re:

They said they were gonna do this last year....for some reason I see 6 of my SWAC lines gettin cancelled....I hate living in BFE

Such a shame too as they usually used no more than 30 mins a month, but good points guys Looks like Sprint needs to weed thier customers a lil more, that data cap is ridiculous if your using an aircard....

Somebody needs to find out if there measuring at the sub level or account level for roaming....

How much is 5GB anyways? I can see why it's a lot for your average smartphone user, but if you PAM or have a data card and that's your primary internet, it doesn't sound like that big a cap if you watch videos and what not.

Come to think of it, how big are Youtube videos cuz I know lots of smartphone users who kill time watching youtube vids.
