Glyde Touchscreen Fix
Glyde Touchscreen Fix
Fix: Secure the battery.
1.)Turn off phone and remove back case.
2.)With the battery in, electric tape the bottom quarter of the battery to the plastic of the phone (secure battery).
3.)Place a piece of electric tape on the inner shell of the back case across to where the battery should be (provides padding when closed).
4.)Install back case and turn on phone.
Observations before the fix:
-Running on battery, touchscreen is responsive 90% of the time (+/-). Vibration feedback (on low) when phone is first turned on is strong, but gets weaker with time (why is source getting weaker?). Whenever touchscreen is unresponsive, the vibration feedback is also lower than normal.
-Running on electric plug, touchscreen is always responsive. Vibration feedback (on low) is always strong. This is probably indication of power management issue running on battery.
-Battery is secured on the top. The bottom of the battery is not secure (I have dropped the phone and the battery would fling right out). It is kept from falling out mainly due to the back case.
Observations after the fix (settings: vibration low, sensitivity medium-high):
-Running on battery, touchscreen is always responsive. Vibration feedback (on low) stays consistent; does not get weaker with time.
Give it a try and let me know if it works for you. Before the fix, I have tried all settings, with vibration feedback on/off, sensitivity low-high, etc. but none of them offered a consistent fix.
Maybe thats why I stopped having any touchscreen issues. I put a thin piece of metal in between the battery and the casing so that attaches to the magnet I have in my car. It was a little tight to get the case back in, but it worked.

Can you take a picture of what the back looks like after you taped it up?
Hmmmm... I'm a little skeptical, but I guess I'll give it a shot. I'll report back in a day or so ... Just for the record, I don't have many problems with my touch screen, but I do have similar vibration problems. (I have it set on low, but if I turn it off, then turn it back on, the vibration seems to be set on high, but in reality it is still set to low. Going into the vibration setting and confirming the 'low' setting again seems to fix it temporarily [until the phone power cyclyes again]).
P.S. My battery fits pretty snug as it is... I have to push it forward to get it in and the rounded part kind of 'glydes' back in as it rubs...

I didn't try the electrical tape but just a took some paper and folded it in half and put it between the cover and the battery. so far, the past hour, I haven't had any problems with the touchscreen. Looks like this might actually have fix the touchscreen problem. I can now hit the "back" button just one time not 3-4 times...

Sorry, I don't have a camera readily available right now. Just cushion something between the battery and the back case, either electrical tape or paper or something. It will be slightly harder to put the case back on but not much.
just tried it... i taped the bottom quarter of the battery, and put a piece of adhesive felt on the back of the case to keep the battery secure and the touch screen seems to respond much better now
I added 3 pieces of electrical tape (stacked together) to the battery cover and one on the battery cover as recommended by isosunrise. It seems to me that this actually works... Although, it has not solved my vibration problems.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying we should round up the people that cant hack it, but rather take the safety labels off everything and let things sort themselves out.
wow, samsung should recall all these damn phones. i hate having to ghetto-rig crap to make things work better. if they fix this problem id buy the phone in a heart beat
the bad thing about this problem is that im assuming it cant be fixed with a firmware update

Yah, its a bit ghetto but at least its on the inside and seems to work until a firmware update. I beleive firmware update can still fix this problem. We don't know why the padding helps. It is definitely not a touchscreen issue; more likely some power management issue running on battery to save power. Still waiting for the firmware for a better experience and bug fixes.

Samsung could recall....or they could send out a roll of electrical tape and instructions to each customer!
Perhaps they could just send a new back housing that has its own mechanism of applying consistent pressure to keep the battery in. Then customers could just stick it on, problem solved and a lot of bad press gone.
