How possible is it for Bell Pay phones to dial 911 by themselves?
I don't know what happened, but it sure was an awkward occurrence. While I was on lunch break at school on Thursday, I went to the pay phone to call my bank and check my account balance. After I got off the phone I went to the washroom because I really had to go. I then returned to the pay phone and called my bank again, but this time to check what my last 5 transactions were. Someone stepped out of the office and asked me to come inside (the pay phones are right beside the office). So they asked me if I dialed 911 because they just got a call from the police that said a 911 call was made from that pay phone. I honestly did not call 911, and there was no possibility of misdialing it. That's what I told the people in there. They asked me what number I called and I said 1-866-222-3456 (TD bank). They agreed that I could not have possibly misdialed the number. They also checked the cameras to see who called but nobody was at the phones besides me, and same with when I went to the washroom. It's not that big of a deal but I just find that a little weird........
Why did you use a payphone? Don't you have a cell?!
Yeah I do but I'm on pre paid and during the weekdays I only have unlimited calling from 12-1 and 3-5 (our lunch starts at 11:16). Why pay 30 cents a minute when I can conveniently use a pay phone and dial toll free.

It actually would cost you more to use the payphone ($0.50) than your prepaid ($0.30)
Plus hassle of finding change...
Thanks Sammy for backing me up. If the line shorts out, it can actually dial 911. When you use a rotary dial phone all you are doing is shorting and unshorting the wires in a certain sequence. Therefore it can dial 911.

Exactly, I see this often. The outside wiring lost it's rubber coating and is hitting a wall or something because of the wind. Everytime it hits it send a pulse through the line (1-1-1-1-1), sometime it will in very rapid succession so your line will call 411, 611 or 911 by itself. This will happen usually when there is wind and/or rain.
Can happen on any regular landline, not just payphone. Call 611 if it happens.
