3G Issues Prevale....but most serious are Battery issues.
Since Friday Ive used the Iphone 3G moderately beginning at 8:00ish...and have gotten the 20% warning each day BEFORE THREE O'CLOCK!
This, if not improved upon significantly by 30 days , will cause me to return it, and after over a year of really lovin this device.

Rocko:
3G voice -- and maintaining a 3G connection to a tower -- gobbles up battery like there's no tomorrow
My best advice to you is this: based on published reviews, the iPhone 3G gets ON AVERAGE 4 1/2 hours of talk time using 3G voice. If that's unacceptable to you -- or if you find yourself getting less than 4 hours -- return it, because you WON'T be happy.
Think about it... for example, if a device has 4 hours talk time... but ONE HUNDRED hours of standby time... talk on it for 2 hours and now your have 50 days of standby time, thats a huge difference. I'd shut off 3G if it was me while not using data.
Between 3G taking up a lot of extra juice, and batteries not being conditioned yet, I STILL think theres a software problem involved with a lot of peoples battery issues.

thats why your battery sucks..
So today I had it on for 12 hours, with 3G off most of the day, 30 minutes of connection to bluetooth which included the grand total of 10 minutes of phone use, plus about 30 minutes of data use on wifi, and it has gone from a full charge to 20%. That's using the **** out of it? Maybe if you don't actually need an operational device.

I have battery issues as well. A 20% warning after a few hours use. Let me ask this question. Is it good to turn off 3G when I'm in an area that I know doesnt have 3G. For example my house doesnt get a 3G signal, its only edge. Would it matter if 3G is on or off since its not being used?

Mine has been unplugged since 10am, still going full charge. Now I am not sure if that has something to do with it being on WIFI all day, and a few calls, some browsing, and stuff, but man it is lasting a very long time. It gets email, and text as well today. Tomorrow I will be at work all day, receving lots of emails, and using it, so we will see how it does.
I've got the same issue with battery drainage... one quick check..
Settings - General - Usage
Does your usage show blank dashes or your usage and standby match? If so, there's a problem with your software not going into standby properly constantly causing battery drainage...
