Something new I found on the E71

I'm sure some where in the dark pages of the manual this feature is mentioned, but I've never experienced this feature on any of the s60 devices that I've owned

Anyways, at the standby screen, press and hold the left soft key, the E71 will announce unread email or sms messages that you have! If you use the email app to retrieve the body of the email, the phone will read out the content as well.

First time I triggered this, I had the biggest laugh. Any ways, since I've never seen this feature mentioned anywhere, I thought I'd post it, maybe someone will find it useful.

that's a great short cut. It's a lot easier than navigating to the full app in tools / voice aid.

My gf's e65 has the functionality but not that shortcut

Very cool and funny as hell. It works on my E66 as well. Also, the right key held down gives voice activated dialing.

Thanks for the tip, it does sound a bit more like a gimmick though, but funny nonetheless (at least to me, others might have actual uses for this)!

On the E61i you could go to the downloads area in the phone and download different male/female voices, and other languages

I've been using this feature on my E51 for months (IIRC, it was also available on my E65).

The feature is especially useful when you receive an SMS while driving, and I must admit the voice (Martin) gives me a giggle when he mispronounces some words.
